So, I'm a witch, so what?

Chapter 28: And then an angel appeared

Dang it, the fat guy pressing me is hard to persuade. Even with my ultimate show of power, he has barely given me an inch. What can I do to get him off my trail? Should I just let him appraise me in front of everyone and expose me for what I am? A witch!?

I'm in such a precarious position, and it's all due because I grew too cocky, thinking I could get away with claiming to be a holy saint. "What's wrong, little saint of the North!? If it's indeed true that you've nothing to fear! Then, take the appraisal stone and show us all your stats!"

The fat man cut my train of thought short as I tried to think of a way to defend myself in this kind of situation, but I ended up with nothing. Letting my guard down is what got me to this point, so now why am I so nervous about it? This is all my own fault, my doing per se.

If the only way I've got to learn is to take the punishment ahead of me, then so be it. I'm sure I can get out of any trouble I find myself in, albeit I don't exactly know where my resolve comes from. Perhaps I simply grow more confident the more challenging the situation I encounter becomes.

"I will do it if you promise that the people of this town will be left alone. I don't want people to suffer because of me." The guy simply smirked and then, with a single breath, answered with a short "Alright."

Not long after my agreement to take on the fat guy's test, something began to cause even more movement around us as the sound of horses approached the area with a clear destination. The horses sounded closer and closer by the second until they suddenly halted, and the crowd split apart, making way to whoever had arrived.

"We finally get to peace terms with the church, and the first thing you guys choose to do is an act of violence against the people of my district?" A clear, potent male voice spoke from within the moving crowd. I did not know who was on their way, but judging by the reaction of the church guy, he was trouble for HIM! Take that sucker!

"The-there's no way Lord Auri was supposed to be away on a battlefield! How is he here?! Tsk." The guy from the church was clearly sweating cold as the crowd finally moved apart, and in a matter of seconds, we were finally allowed to see the full greatness of a great man whom I totally did not fall for!

{Incontro: Bellezza e Rosula - Peijia You}

Talk about someone who really looked the part of a nobleman, or perhaps he was even more extravagant than that, as his clothes showed off his clear sense of good fashion. For starters, the number of people who could dress with many layers of clothes was rare, and this guy wore pants, a dress shirt, an elegant jacket, and a cape on top of it all.

I myself only wore my classic poor girl dress, which had only two layers, if you counted underwear as a layer. Listen! I know girls usually have to wear more than what I'm currently rocking, but I'm ashamed to admit I'm a bit too lazy to wash my clothes, so this outfit is here to save the day!

Ugh! Enough about me and more about the guy who looks like he could slap the fat guy across the face and get away with it just fine! Yeah! I don't even know who this dude is, albeit if we are going by the name, the church guy said his name is "Auri." Hey, wait a second, doesn't that mean gold or something? How pretentious of his parents!

"You must be the representative of the pope, I assume." Mr. Auri said to the church guy, who seemed about to pop his pants at a moment's notice. Seriously! Get a grip, man! No matter how important this noble is, aren't you in the same ballpark as him as a Pope messenger and all?

"Yes! I am! Lord Auri! Please forgive my mischievous actions in your land until now! I did not wish to offend any of your war houses!" Oh! So that's why the church guy is trembling? This Lord of Gold is the leader of a house of arms? Well, that would make anyone shake on their boots! Including me, albeit I don't think it's because of his noble power...

"You're in luck, for I am in a good mood today. My fourth daughter has just been born, so I'm a little softer than usual. Yet that doesn't mean I will let your aggression slide, papist." The already harsh tone of the tall man's voice already commanded authority, but when he said that last sentence, his voice sounded somehow even more severe than before.

"Congratulations on your daughter, sir! May they be blessed by the world god!" The fat guy muttered while on the brink of passing out from the severe hyperventilation he was in. I was about to laugh in his face and say something cheeky, but the Lord turned his attention to me as soon as I was about to do that; OH SHIT!

"As far as you are concerned. It is illegal to set up a merchant's post without a license and a permit, which I assume you don't have. Will I have to arrest a little girl, or will you admit to your wrongdoing?" What the fuck? When was this guy allowed to talk to me like I was his daughter? And why am I so shamed!? Ashamed of what?! Oh man, this guy is scary!

"I'm guilty!" I authored without a second thought as the man's gaze pierced deep within my very soul; now it was me who began to cold sweat!

"Good girl. I don't see why I shouldn't pardon a sincere apology to the state. You're free to go, little girl, as far as you're concerned, papist! You're to be arrested and brought to trial! For you have cast command magic on the people of this town! Be glad I don't initiate war against the church over this!"

With that, the church's soldiers moved out of the way and let the arrest take place at the hands of the nobleman's guards or whatever. To be honest, I've never been more grateful for this innocent, pretty face of mine. Imagine if I were a boy in this situation. Yeah, I'm not getting out of it with a simple "Sowwy!" +Wink wink+

"You'll regret this, Lord Auri! You! UGH! NNUGHH!!" The church guy looked livid as the guards took him away in their horses, but the man who arrested him stayed behind, looking over at my current adoptive father and my also adopted sister. You know! Bartholomew and Veronica!

Since Vera didn't know the guy either, she kind of just looked confused while Bartholomew grew a wider smile by the second, which matched the nobleman's grin. Wait a darn second! What was going on here!? I looked in both directions until they soon broke the silence.

"If it ain't the one and only Lord of Gold!" Screamed Bart, followed right after by Lord Auri, who responded with, "You haven't aged one bit, Twilight Sword!" Bartholomew ground at the man's voice, which only seemed to give him even more confidence to puff out his chest.

"Speaking of age! When were you planning on visiting me, uh!? Do you not know I've been waiting for you to let me train your sons and daughters!?" With that, the nobleman let out a slight cold drop of sweat run across his face as if he were ashamed by my stepfather's words.

"I'm sorry, Master Bartholomew! But in my defense, they are all below age five! Far too young to be training with a sword!"

"Nonsense! I began your training at age four! I'm sure they can take it! Your sons come from the same strong father, don't they?"
