Chapter 261 - Roasted Animal Meat?
Ciera was surprised by Ban's sudden offer. She thought that the fellow might have pitied her after seeing the hard jerky so he offered to get her food.
In any case, Ciera was not the least bothered by eating these hard jerkies. She was already used to it long ago, and besides, aren't eating these in the wild supposed to be normal?
However, before she could decline, Ban and Eva had already started climbing the tree at an astonishing speed. Ciera was shocked by how fast he could climb, but ignored it a moment later.
While waiting for him to return, she wondered what kind of food he was talking about.
Vegetables? Meat of normal animals? Or was it some sort of packed meal?
Meat of normal animals would spoil if stored on a Beast Pouch. She also tried it before but upon not consuming it for more than a day, the surface of the meat already has some violet marks on it, indicating that it was already spoiled and eating it might cause some diarrhea. Something like that would only be a waste of effort.
Aside from hard jerkys, Adventurers often bring vegetables, fruits, and other ready made meals while going out for an adventure. They might bring some meat along but they would usually consume them right away.
Some also hunt normal animals for their meal but they would also consume it all right away.
After weighing them down, Ciera deduced that the food that Ban would most likely offer was some vegetables or ready to eat meals. Same as them pursuing Ban, she guessed that Ban and his group were also constantly moving, not allowing them to hunt some normal animals along the way.
As for Ban's food offer being a Beast? That was even out of option.
Even a Normal Grade Beast at the X-Mortal Rank was already precious. How can someone afford to cook them in the wild?
Not even she, as the sole daughter of the Sander's Family Head, can squander money just like that.
Those who did something like that might not be right on the head, or they are just very wealthy. Well, considering that their Sander's Family was the weakest in terms of wealth in Falcon City, she thought that there might really be some rich people who would eat Beast meats in the wild just like that.
As for Ban, she did not consider him being such a person.
Ciera does not possess rich experience like Yakob. Unlike him who guessed that Ban was a genius nurtured by a powerful family in Eagle City, Ciera only saw Ban as some normal kid who was brought along by his seniors on one of their adventures to broaden his horizon.
She also experienced something like that before as it was very normal.
Well, both of their guesses were wrong but anyways, that's how Ciera viewed Ban.
She looked over the tent and saw Elder Yakob preparing the 'delicious' dinner he promised to Ban. What he was preparing were some vegetables they bought for this journey. Due to following Ban's group for almost half a day, they were not able to hunt some normal animals for their dinner.
Well, Ciera even felt fortunate that it had become that way. Or else, if Elder Yakob still insisted that he would cook the animal they hunted, wouldn't the animal's meat be wasted then?
The three students of Yakob assisted him on each side. Sometimes, they would interject and would try to guide Yakob but it only made the other party infuriated, so in the end, he shooed them away, saying that they should just watch and learn.
The three of them looked over to Ciera with pleading eyes. But instead of addressing their grievance, Ciera only gave them a thumbs up before she looked away as if she did not see anything.
As the Young Miss, even she would be helpless in this kind of situation.
'You can do it guys!' She secretly gave the three pitiful fellows some encouraging words.
It has been more than five minutes since Ban left. She wondered why it took so long. Maybe their camp was not on the other end of these trees but actually somewhere farther than this?
The more she thought about it sounded to be the truth.
Ciera stroked the head of Elder Yakob's Yak softly. This Monster of Yakob was already there the moment she gained reason, the first memory with a monster was even this yak. Both of them were close, and the yak also treasured her as if she was its own daughter.
Suddenly the nose of the yak twitched before it abruptly raised its head to look in a particular direction. It then looked at Yakob who was cooking in the distance, the yak and Yakob nodded at each other as if they were communicating something. After that, the yak returned its head to where it was earlier, allowing Ciera to stroke it up and down.
A while later, Ban returned with a large leaf in front of him. He then went in front of Ciera and unfolded it in front of her, allowing her to see what's hidden inside it.
Ciera was taken aback by that, and she realized that this must be the food he was talking about.
Roasted animal meat?
An obvious question popped inside Ciera's mind a moment later. It was only earlier that she thought that it would be impossible for the food he offered to be an animal's meat, and yet the fellow actually indeed brought one over. And its size, isn't this the size of a whole wild boar?
Just how many did they kill for them to offer her the size equivalent to whole boar without ache?
An instant later, the aroma of the roasted meat suddenly assaulted her nose. Even the neck of the yak stood erect the moment it smelled it, how much more her?
'What a delicious smell...'
From the aroma alone, Ciera could already tell that the meat would be delicious.
"Here, I'm sorry this is the only part I could take, I gave the other one to my err, uhhh, companion…" Ban said with an apologetic smile.
Indeed, the meat he willingly gave to Ciera was only half of the Mild Tempered Crocodile meat they previously could not finish.
As for the other half, he hanged it far away, also giving it to the woman who wanted to catch him previously. That was also the reason why he did not return immediately.
Speaking of her, Ban secretly used the Echo Hearing to 'look' at her movements using his ears.
