Interlude 12 – Abomination’ Gaze…
Interlude 12 – Abomination’ Gaze…
The Guardian was gone so abruptly, that it took the gods a whole second to realize it happened. They were confused, but didn’t have a reason to worry…
So, De complained when Miriam lost control of her body, and the Guardian hadn't come back yet
“Ugh… come on! She just upgraded her brain!”
“She stills needs between one, or two more upgrades…” her brother answered, still trying to predict what route she was going to take “And remember that not every mortal, can withstand eternity…” getting a bit closer in her current state… but still having problems with it…
“I know!” the pouting baby screamed at him “But if she really was a…! Ugh… whatever…” moving to the other side of her seat, the annoyed fox-woman looked at Aufiea “Did she see…?”
The goddess clad in leather armor sighed, while holding a white sphere between her hands… and Lulu looking over shoulder at it. She was still blushing every time Miriam was mentioned…
“Yes… she saw the same thing we did when we arrived… an enormous pillar of darkness and eyes that reached the sky…” she looked at the mourning goddesses “But like everyone else, Miriam… no, the memories remaining in the Undead, didn’t show whatever was killed before its… arrival…” Ruby nodded before answering
“No surprises there…” Emerald raised her hand with a similar sphere “Not even us… can… and we… we were… inside…” she went quiet, and all three of them shivered…
Even after all the time that had passed, they had trouble talking about the… eternity… they were being devoured by…
That…
Only the three of them survived… and they had no idea of what had happened to them…
The reappearance of the armored form of the Guardian made every deity freeze… De was particularly worried by the eye staring at her for two seconds…
“There is a difference between, what Miriam’s soul can resist, and what her body can…” the reason the rest froze… was a scratch on their armor… and the fact that all their eyes were looking around… “I’m not particularly fond of that kind of… comments…”
That damage vanished in the time they pointed at the Trickster
“Ah!” and De stood up, turning into an extremely fit male form, with bulging muscles, and a long, thick beard, that extended far above his bald head forming a V “I’M FREE!!!”
The Trickster posed for a few moments, before his skin broke and billions of ants crying bleach, were released… screeching with happiness in all the languages De knew…
“But… I’m lifting the punishment earlier…” the Guardian hesitated, as they returned to their normal posture “Because Miriam helped…” but still took a moment to calculate again… and confirmed that this was the best choice…
“With what…?” Aufiea was the one that asked, the sphere vanishing inside her
“The attack she aimed to a cloud was unusual… and let me figure out that there is… an Abomination looking at her”
Only the mourning goddesses froze with fear, the rest donned their combat forms in an instant
“Hold it…” but the Guardian stopped them with a gesture “‘Abomination’ is just the simplest way to describe what is looking at her…” the gods didn’t relax at all… “Another Guardian has taken my duty of watching that world” they pointed on the general direction they had been looking before “But even with all my eyes, I can’t find it… and I’m not the only one looking…”
“What should we do then…?” Mordauntless melting gaze looked around, worried about splitting his focus even more…
“I’m not going to ask for any of you, to fight. This thing is worse that a… ‘Normal…’ Abomination, so, I want all of you to warn me if anything fells unusual. No matter how small…” they looked at De “No pranks…”
“That. Would be unusual…” De snarked back, but was the first to turn into a mourning old man “It’s the… thing…” glancing worriedly at the frozen goddesses…
When the Guardian shook their head, all of them relaxed. The gods returned to their normal appearances and seats… but the silence stretched…
“It might be related…” and the Guardian spoke again “But the thing that all of you meet. Left… beyond Mother’s ability to see it… long ago… by what I can see, this Abomination is weaker…” they traced a finger where the scratch was “If… the things it’s using to observe Miriam, are a hint of it’s strength…”
Making a scratch on the armor of a Guardian, was a thing none of the gods present could do… perhaps, if all of them attacked at the same time… but that would be foolish…
“Then I’ll give either Brenna or Miriam, a boon to compensate me taking this seriously” De pouted as her skeleton danced with his skin, on top of their seat, now made of flesh…
The Guardian sighed… but didn’t argued back…
“How about I tell you…” instead they calculated an outcome that would made the Trickster… “That I figured out how Miriam’s anomaly was activated…” cooperate… “And I let you do that, with Brenna…?”
The god smiled so widely, that its whole form grew tall and twisted until it only looked like an unending grin
“Tell me more~”
While the rest of the gods could just sigh…

The Fae had turned into a tiny blue furred creature as she fled, the two tailed cat following her… until she couldn’t keep running after jumping above a root and collapsed near it…
Torn between the fear that the Ruler instilled in her… and the happiness… of being free…
From both, her body… and the small area she had been tied before…
“Aaahhh!!!” she could just scream and cry the moment she changed back to her base shape again…
Causing the tired cat to cuddle against her… purring while trying to calm her down… wondering why the Undead body, that she had been trying to take control of, hadn't reappeared again…
Eventually the Fae calmed down and dried her tears, surprised that the cat had let her hug her head…
Slowly, she stood up as tall as she could… they weren't being chased, so she moved to the tree while a green glow appeared on her hands
“Please… if there is anything I can do to help her… tell me…” she smiled as more tears appeared and fell from her face “I need to repay her help…!”
She let the glow move and sink on the bark of the tree… but she had no way of knowing if the trees would let her do that…
