The Worlds Seeker

Chapter 7 – Helping the Little Boy

"Are you okay, boy? Do you need help with something?" Kai crouched down, ignoring the smell of pee in the air, and smoothed the boy's hair.

"Y-yes... I mean, I'm okay! T-thank you, sir!" The boy spoke with a shaky voice and still shocked by everything that happened.

"I'm not that old!" Kai smirked and ruffled the boy's hair even more, "You can call me Kai. What is your name?"

"Mitsuru! My name is Mitsuru, Kai-san!" The boy replied with enthusiasm. And it's understandable, as it's not every day you see someone defeating bad guys that threatened you in such a ferocious manner.

"So, Mitsuru-kun, do you want me to get someone to come get you? Aren't you supposed to be in class yet?" Kai raised an eyebrow as he helped the boy to his feet. He had already texted Hana to bring some new clothes.

"W-well, my sisters are also studying at this time. They go to the same school as you!" Mitsuru replied with a bit of embarrassment for needing his sisters again. His expression was sad too for a second, but Kai still noticed. It was only then that he realized the situation he was in and felt the annoying smell of pee coming from himself, "Oh no..."

Kai quickly flicked to get Mitsuru's attention, "Don't worry about it, we'll call your sisters and you'll go back to school. It'll be fine." He then turned to the people who were gathered. "As everyone can see, it's all settled. On behalf of the Horizon Institute I urge everyone to spread out. The police are already arriving to take the necessary measures. Thank you all again and good afternoon!"

On cue, a police car was indeed on its way. In fact, it wasn't really the police. A distant cousin of his owns an underground fighting arena and the four bad guys looked like good fighting material. And they would also be categorized as rap*sts, so one could imagine the price of defeat...

Like good extras, the "policemen" collected the evidence and testimonies before taking the detainees. The captain in charge gave Kai an unrecognizable wave in the middle of everything and they left.

While Aoi waited outside, Kai and Mitsuru entered the bathroom of a nearby square park. Mitsuru was cleaning up and already had the clothes Kai ordered.

"What are you doing outside of class? And yet so far from high school?" Kai finally had the time to question properly.

"Well...it is complicated. I just met a classmate, Takashi-kun, who helped me with a few things... The important thing is that he asked me to go for a walk at lunchtime, and when it was close to ringing, he suggested going to see my sisters. I didn't want to go, but he insisted so much, and he had already helped me too..." Mitsuru was already wearing new pants and underwear and left the bathroom to wash his hands. His expression also looked a little sad and gloomy.

"No need to be nervous about it. It's normal that you felt like you owed him something." Kai then walked over and patted him lightly on the back, "But remember, you are you, him is him. If you don't feel comfortable, you must be strong about the things you want to do or not to do. Got it?"

"Got it, Kai-san! I must be strong so that I don't feel obligated to anything! That's it isn't it?" Mitsuru looked in the mirror and felt something change, even if faintly. His melancholy over his mother's death was also somewhat hidden.

"Alright, now give me the number of someone I can call so they can walk you to school. Even if you were compelled by others, you must still take responsibility for your actions." Kai took out the phone and put it on the dialler.

"Alright..." Mitsuru was a little sad again, but still picked up the cell phone and dialed his sister's number.

Kai called the number and a short time later the call was answered.

"Hello, who is this?" A sweet female voice was heard on the other end of the line.

"Hello -..." Kai forgot that he didn't ask Mitsuru her name and indicated with his fingers for him to speak.

"Mariko!" Mitsuru whispered loudly.

"Hello, Mariko-chan! This is Kai, your brother's new friend." He gave Mitsuru a thumbs up and concentrated on the call.

"Kai? Like Kai Captain of the Horizon Basketball Team? Kai from 3rd 'A'?" The sweet voice seemed to be taken aback by the sudden call.

"Yes, yes, that one! First things first, I found your brother in a delicate situation and he is out of school now. Since I cannot be responsible for him, he gave me your number so you could take him back to his afternoon classes." Kai tried to speak simply and convey a good vibe.

"How so delicate? Did something happen to him?? Why is he out of school now?" Mariko looked nervous on the other end.

"It's okay, no need to worry. It's just that he met a new classmate at school who convinced him to want to go see you and Yuina, so he felt it might be good. You know, after that sad event..." Kai was already well aware of why Mitsuru easily fell into Takashi's trap. Despite having all the information beforehand in the story, it was difficult to recognize someone in real life and in a drawing. Only after gathering enough information did he conclude things.

"Well, all right then. I'll excuse myself now to go get him. Where are you guys?" She looked to have been relieved as she let out a weary sigh.

"In the square in front of the Horizon entrance. We'll be waiting for you!" Kai explained and soon after hung up the phone. He then turned to Mitsuru, who had his mouth open in shock.

"How did you know my other sister's name?" After all, he hadn't even told her, but the other part already seemed to know.

"I study with them, boy. And Yuina is the Ace of the volleyball team, so of course I know her too. Furthermore..." He walked over to Mitsuru and gave him a light hug and walked away, "My condolences for your mother. I went to the funeral, but I couldn't get to you. You're being strong so far, boy. Keep it up!"

Now it was shock that turned into clarity and then sadness. Mitsuru let some tears fall from remembering his mother, but he also felt comforted by Kai's words.

"Come on, I'll buy you a drink while we wait for your sister."

°°°

A few minutes later, a girl with short orange red hair and a blue clip on the right side of her hair came hurriedly approaching. She only managed to calm down when she saw Mitsuru laughing next to Kai and another girl in a coat. They were drinking soda and talking.

"Mitsuru, Mitsuru! Are you well? What happened that you're not at school?" Mariko hugged Mitsuru, innocently tucking his head between her breasts. The boy himself didn't care either, and he didn't even have perverted thoughts about it.

"I'm fine, Mari-nee! Kai-san was talking to me during that time. He even bought a cherry soda and a bag of chips!" Like the child he was, the sugar levels still had minimal change in behavior.

"My God! Senpai, I don't know what I can say to thank you! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Mariko let go of Mitsuru and soon grabbed Kai's hands, swaying repeatedly as she bowed.

"Don't worry about it, Mariko. Mitsuru is a good boy, he was just influenced by the wrong person. The problem is already solved, and your gratitude alone is enough." Kai, like a true gentleman with goals, played the hidden cards for Mariko.

"You look like you were sent from heaven, Senpai! Someday I'll find a way to repay!" With teary eyes, she stopped herself from hugging Kai, out of embarrassment and being inappropriate, and glared straight at Mitsuru angrily, "And you, young man! No hanging around with that bad influence again! I don't care who he is, you won't hang out with him anymore! Now let's go, I'll take you back to school, luckily the afternoon classes aren't all over yet! Bye bye, Senpai!"

Quickly saying goodbye, Mariko took Mitsuru back to the school, leaving Kai and Aoi in the square.

"Have you finished your business yet?" Aoi was silent the entire time, just watching how Kai had handled things so far. Only when she thought he was finished did she say something.

"So far yes. I'm a busy man, you know... But I have time for ice cream now! Let's go!" Kai ruffled Aoi's hair and headed towards the SUV Hana brought. She took advantage of the trip to take the Lamborghini back to the mansion.

As soon as they entered, Aoi was immediately amazed.

"Are you rich, Kai-san? That car looks so luxurious! And what are those bags in the back seat?" Displaying her curious persona, Aoi started talking about everything about the car.

"You are very curious, girl. And in the bags are your uniform and shoes. Where we're going, you can't go in sports tops, so I asked to bring clothes in your size." Kai started the car and accelerated towards the destination.

"And how do you know what my size is? Have you been stealing my clothes? Looking at me, you pervert?!" Aoi looked startled for a moment as she thought about the possibilities.

"Of course not. I only asked them to make it small, and you are small. I think it will fit." Of course it will fit, Sora herself informed Aoi's perfect measurements.

"And where am I going to get dressed?" Aoi asked after pulling the bag and seeing that it actually had a uniform almost identical to hers.

"You can go in the backseat to change. Don't worry, I'll be watching to make sure you don't get hurt." Kai spoke with a straightness so pure that even the Pope would believe him.

"Perverted!"

"I am. Now go get changed."

°°°

"Mitsuru, how did you get involved with the wrong people on the first day of school?" Mariko was holding back from getting angry. They spent so much time trying to make him okay after their mother died, but he still went the wrong way.

"I thought he was my friend. Some... Some students were picking on me at my desk, and he was the first person to defend me. For the first time in a long time I had felt protection that didn't come from my family." Mitsuru's voice got lower and lower as he added, "I finally had a friend... But it was wrong."

"*Sigh* You weren't wrong to get your hopes up, honey." Mariko stopped in her walk as she bent down and looked Mitsuru straight in the eyes, "And now you know this person is not suited to be your friend, making you skip class on your first day. Even if it takes time, you'll make a friend one day, the m-"

"Did you know that Kai was at Mom's funeral?" Mitsuru didn't let her finish when he interrupted, "He told me he was waiting hours to talk to us, but there were too many people and we were forced to leave early, but he didn't know."

"I-I didn't know that." Mariko was taken aback by the information, as Kai had never mentioned it to her or Yuina before. "If I had known I would have appr-" She was again interrupted.

"Did you also know that all those flowers that were on the door were Kai's?" Tears started to creep down Mitsuru's cheeks, but a smile was emerging on his lips, "He also said that he waited a long time at the door to talk to us, but no one answered the door. We had traveled to Grandma's house without informing anyone, but he still went for a week every day with the bouquets and letters. But he was never answered."

Now Mariko was really caught off guard. When they arrived from the trip from grandma's house, there were actually several bouquets in front of the door, with several letters without the signature, just giving the feelings for the mother's death. She and Yuina thought it was some cheap mortuary trick to keep the lease, so they burned it down.

"So, I guess I have a friend. Kai seems like a good friend. Can I be friends with him?" Mitsuru continued to shed tears, which soon infected Mariko and she started to cry too.

"Yes, Mitsuru-kun. You can be his friend." She smoothed his hair and wiped his tears as she got up and continued on her way to school, "Now come on, you've already been too late."

"Yes, Mari-nee!"

°°°

After a short drive, Kai and Aoi arrived at the city's biggest mall, heading straight for a world-renowned ice cream shop.

"Do we really need to come for ice cream at such an expensive place? I thought it was going to be a quick thing..." Aoi looked a little embarrassed to be in such a fancy place. Although her parents had money, one of them was a martial artist, so they always opted for a more simplistic lifestyle.

"Do not worry. Besides, I can't let our first date be somewhere else. It has to be special." Kai spoke with a smile as he took another look at Aoi. She really was cute in uniform.

"D-date?? This isn't a date, it's a... It's a..." Aoi seemed to have become nervous as a blush appeared on her face and she became nervous.

"Apology?"

"Yes! Apologies! You should have let my Fist of Justice do its job." Aoi found salvation with Kai and decided to take his cue.

"Alright, since you're saying so..." He soon ordered the ice creams from the online menu on his cell phone and started listening to Aoi.

'This little girl is really cute...'
