Lizardman
Monster Level - II
Soul Type - Composite
Intelligence - Almost Human Level
Strength - Human Level
Magic - Average, focused towards water and earth
Rarity - Uncommon
Bipedal lizards with clawed hands, lizardmen are found in swampy locales and imitate a primitive society. They use stone and obsidian tools and wear crude leather clothes. Lizardmen also frequently have minor magic, and delvers should expect to find shamans in their ranks. Unlike other humanoids they are not mono gender, but most people have a hard time noticing that. They use primitive strategy and can pose a decent danger to unmerged humans. One of their most common tricks is using mud to protect against fire magic. However they're no stronger than an unmerged human, and have only slight healing and defensive abilities from their scales.
Lizardmen are capable of forming hordes, and larger 'champions' will form to lead their brethren. Those champions are the equal of a Level III monster, and usually have unique skills like healing magic or techniques. A lizardman horde can deal a lot of damage if left unstopped.
Lizardmen occasionally are found with gems or crude jewelry. Nothing worth much on their own, but capable of being turned into quality works of art with some refinement.
Lizardmen don't torture and defile their captives like other humanoids. But they do have a strong preference for live prey. It's best to kill them with considerable violence.
Merge
Common Name : Lizardkin
Benefits : Scales. Reduced hunger. Longevity. Tail(?)
Weaknesses : Shedding. Heat requirements.
Lizardkin are hard to recognize, appearing a lot like other reptile based merges. It's also not very popular. While easyish to obtain, all a lizardkin gets is some scales, and a few cold blooded traits. While this leads to increased longevity (a lizardkin has reached 153 years old) and a reduced need for food, it also causes them to be sluggish in the cold. Lizardkin are more popular to the south, but even then they tend to have issues working during cold nights.
Lizardkin tend towards green and blue skin and hair color shifts. Several get a tail in the process, but it's not incredibly useful. All it does is detach and grow back if the lizardkin is in trouble.
The scales of a lizardkin also don't naturally regenerate. About once every two months they have to shed their scales, a process which is apparently 'very itchy'. This also means scale injuries linger on lizardkin leaving the area vulnerable for a while. However after a few sheddings all traces on the injury should be gone.
It's a little strange, but some lizardkin make a practice of eating their shed tail alongside the people who helped them out of the situation that caused them to lose the tail. Apparently eating some of the lost tail helps regrow a new one faster.
