So, I'm a witch, so what?

Chapter 33: You're Crazy! Veronica's secret training program! Numero one!

{The adventure begins - Masato Kōda}

So here I am, sitting quietly inside an almost empty hall, waiting for my teacher, Veronica. Geez, I swear she is always late to me. It's like she does it on purpose just to piss me off or something. Soon, a faint "Hey there, sorry for the delay" cuts my train of thought.

There's only one person who could say something like that to me, so I immediately look around where the voice comes from, and I look annoyed. "Hey! Don't look at me like that, alright? I'm sorry I'm late! It's just the maids and the people around the mansion always get in my way, okay?" Yeah, right? Like I'm that naive! She probably woke up late!

"So what's this 'secret training' you boast so much about, uh?" I had to give my master a cheeky response as I'm pretty excited about whatever she has in mind this time around. I do hope it's nothing crazy like that. One time, she dropped me into a deep hole and just left me there for a day.

"We are going hunting, my dear Yoimiya! You said you want to test your strenght, don't you? Well, I've prepared just the target for you! I hope you're not afraid of some frogs!" Why would I be afraid of small harmless reptiles like those? Am I supposed to be? Should I? I dunno.

"Okay, but there are these frogs at?" Veronica gets into a cool stance as she points straight toward the main gate of the lord's house, meaning that the frogs are outside. Well, okay, that's kind of expected, but I doubt the lord of the house will let us out alone on a stroll, will he?

"I've already talked with Mr. Auri, and he agreed to let us go train if his trusted assistant is allowed to come with us." As soon as Veronica finishes her sentence, I can hear the all too familiar footsteps of the person that she was referring to approaching us.

"Don't tell me it's that guy you hang out with a lot now, please! Anyone else but him!" I don't even get to finish my complaint when a tall, handsome boy who looked around fifteen years old crashes into our conversation with a loud and flashy entrance like always.

"Hey, my lady! And kiddo! I hope I didn't make you wait for my fabulous presence too long!" Ugh, get a hold of this guy. He drives me nuts with how selfish he is. Hey Veronica! Get your stuff together! Why do you even like someone like him? I swear she just likes any man that treats her well.

"Nobody missed- ugh!" "Don't mind my dumb sister here! You're just in time, Dustin!" Again! I don't even get the chance to voice out my complaint when Veronica's hand lands right over my mouth so that she can take the spotlight for herself! UGHH!!

At least it seems like Veronica has forgotten about her past life tragedies and all that trauma that she went through, or at least that's how she presents herself to be. Maybe I should also start being like her. No, that's not my style, although I must say I'm not so afraid of much ever since we found Father Bartholomew.

"Alright! Time to head out to the planes!" And just like that, our trio of dumb teenagers with rising levels of hormonal distress depart from the lord's house and into the nearby plane lands that are supposedly infested with giant toads or frogs or whatever. I mean, just how bad could some frogs be anyway?

We walk for several minutes at a breakneck pace, or at least it feels like that to me since I need to take two steps instead of the giants leading the way forward! Hey, you two, wait up for me! I'm short! Wait for me, you dummies! AHHHH! Just look at that prick with his golden armor and sword!

Why can't I have a golden armor and sword? I mean, it's not like it wouldn't look good on me or something, but I also don't have the funds or anyone to buy it for me, so ugh! Just another reason to hate Dustin, aside from his dumb name.

"RIBBIT!" "RIBBIT!" "RIIIIIIBIIT!" A louder-than-usual toad sound can be heard in the distance as we walk toward the opening light between the trees. Just what the heck made those noises? I'm pretty sure that didn't sound like a normal frog. Oh no, that sounded like a human-sized imagination of one. Were these guys messing with me?

{Loud leap sounds mixed with loud toad noises}

I'm not imaginign things am I? Are these things real? Were my eyes lying to me? Is that what I thought as I looked toward a massive herd of giant toads? I don't think I could do them a good service other than to describe them as twice as big as Veronica and Dustin stacked together. The toads were huge.

"Alright, we are here! Now kill them, Yoimiya! Dustin! You know what to do!" Veronica says while Dustin turns around to pick me up and grab me like a rag doll. Just when I was about to plead or ask for an explanation, Dustin threw me head-on first into the field of toads that immediately turned around to face me all at the same time.

"RIIIIBIIT!" "EEEEEK!" Okay, I know I shouldn't have underestimated whatever Vera was planning, but a little warning would've been appreciated! I don't even think about fighting the damn things as I start fleeing in circles around the field with five giant toads leaping closer and closer every time.

Come one think! THINK! What can I use against these things? My sword? Maybe a knife, even? Alright, let's try both! HYAAAA! Without much thought, I soon turn around and try swinging my sword toward one of the Toads, but it does absolutely no damage, not even a scratch.

"What the!" The toad, however, soon tries to move their mouth toward me as if it wanted to swallow me, and I barely duck out of the way so that I can keep on running. Well, that plan isn't going to work! I already lost my sword to this thing! It's way out of my league! VERA HELP ME! Stop kissing Dustin behind that tree! I can see you!

Oh, I know! Why don't I interrupt their dear kissing session!? I'm leading the frogs toward them one hundred percent. I am! There's but one problem! I can't turn around and run past five giant toads! Can I? I don't know anymore! They seem way too fast for me to! UUUGH!

{A tragedy - Syuji Katayama}

"RIBBIT!" Those are the sounds the toad that appeared out of nowhere to swallow me makes as I'm suddenly snatched from the ground and into the toad's mouth. Damn it! I was too focused looking behind me that I forgot to look ahead of me! I'm toasted! Please save me now!

"AHHHHHG!" The toad's insides contract and begin to crush my top half ever so slightly. Such muscle strenght is way too high for me to fight back as well, and the oxygen depletion inside this place is starting to suffocate me! I need to get out of it. UGHH UHH.

"Hey! Where's Yoimiya?" "I don't know! She was there a little while ago!" "SHIT!" That exchange between my supposed heroes doesn't bring me much comfort as I'm finally swallowed whole by the toad, slowly losing consciousness due to the strong acidic gasses released by the thing.

Is this seriously the way I go out? Ugh! I'm losing my train of thought! I need to. I gotta uhh! I want to! UUHH! I want to take a nap here. Yeah, that's what uhh ugg!
