Chapter 39
Tranquility
Qu Zhi would be discharged after three days.
These three days had been tough for Liang Wen. He had to bring Chuchu and Song Mei to the hospital every morning so that Chuchu could check if her sister had become prettier.
However, he also pushed aside the work at hand so that he could have more time to spend with the child.
He also knew that he didn’t know how to take care of a child. Usually, Qu Zhi was the one who organized the child’s living arrangements, so he would only follow behind the child and give whatever she wanted.
On the second day of Sisi’s birth, Huang Qing called Liang Wen for a visit.
For two whole days, no one answered her calls on her private phone, so she guessed that Qu Zhi had either gone to the hospital or had already given birth.
“Liang Wen, has our Qu Zhi given birth yet?”
“She had.” Liang Wen was also curious as to why she, as a mother, only asked about her daughter now. “She gave birth yesterday afternoon.”
“Oh, oh…” Huang Qing agreed to him casually. “I’ll pick a day to visit my precious granddaughter.”
Sister Song, who was standing at the side, overheard Huang Qing’s “precious granddaughter” and was furious. She snatched Liang Wen’s mobile phone and replied angrily, “Don’t come. The child’s body is weak. It’s not good for the child to have more people.”
“I’ll come alone. There’s no other…” Sister Song hung up the phone before she could finish her sentence.
“What did you say? I didn’t hear you.” Sister Song mumbled to herself, secretly feeling proud that she had helped Qu Zhi vent her anger.
Liang Wen thought about it and agreed.
Chuchu was very likable when she was young, and several adults hugged her and refused to let her go. A few days after her one-month celebration, she felt uncomfortable and went to the hospital after vomiting and pooping.
The doctor said that the adults had bacteria on their bodies, and the children’s immune system was weak, so they couldn’t stand the torment and would fall sick.
Moreover, Sisi was a pound skinnier than Chuchu! Liang Wen couldn’t bear to see his child fall sick.
The first thing Qu Zhi did after she was discharged from the hospital was to change her home phone number.
From then on, there was no more stubborn ringing in the morning, and Qu Zhi and Sisi could both sleep well.
Huang Qing’s side had also compromised.
In the beginning, she refused to admit defeat. When she couldn’t get through to Qu Zhi’s family’s fixed phone, she called Liang Wen, but Liang Wen always said that she have to wait until the child was a little older.
In addition, he was busy with work and couldn’t care about Huang Qing’s unreasonable tantrum, so he hung up after a few words with her. After that, she can’t reason with them and stopped bombarding them with phone calls.
Sisi was very obedient and quiet. Most of the time, she would curl up and sleep. She wasn’t as energetic as Chuchu when she was young. She had a small voice and didn’t eat much, but as long as she was in Qu Zhi’s arms, she wouldn’t make any noise.
However, this silence only made Qu Zhi’s heart clench even more. She knew that she owed her child too much. Now that a new opportunity was in front of her, she did not know how to make up for it.
She tried her best to perfect every detail.
The child was a light sleeper and would wake up as soon as she touched the bed. Qu Zhi stood there, holding Sisi and gently shaking her until midnight.
She had to wait for Sisi to fall asleep before she was willing to put her down.
As soon as Sisi cried, she immediately ran to Sisi’s room, not caring about the things in her hands. Several pots had been burnt.
Although Liang Wen loved children, he also felt that Qu Zhi was tormenting herself too much. She had just given birth a few days ago and should have been able to relax for a few days, but she was so tense that she couldn’t even sleep.
However, Qu Zhi didn’t think so. Instead, she felt very calm and satisfied.
When she gave birth to Chuchu, Huang Qing came to help take care of the child. Huang Qing didn’t let her get out of bed, saying that getting out of bed during the confinement period was not conducive to her future son.
In the end, Huang Qing couldn’t even wash the blanket and mattress clean. Not only did she make the house smelly, but she also carelessly used hot water to wipe Chuchu’s body.
Qu Zhi couldn’t stand her, but she couldn’t say anything, so she could only patiently finish her confinement.
Now that Huang Qing wasn’t around, she could get out of bed and do something. Even if Sister Song was too busy sometimes, she could still cook her own rice and accompany Chuchu to look at the picture book.
This kind of life, where she was in complete control of it, made Qu Zhi feel particularly fulfilled and full of life.
She had cut off all the ties of ‘kinship’ on her body, and from then on, she became free and independent.
These happy days passed quickly, and in the blink of an eye, it was almost Sisi’s full moon celebration.
