Chapter 39: New type of dungeon
Instead of letting the enemies organize themselves, Vanessa decided to climb down and head to the portal. The enemies would have a hard time climbing the stairs with all the blood and corpses around, but no one knew if reinforcements were going to come. So, they had to make their moves.
The ranged fighters focused on finishing off the enemies along the way to prevent them from surrounding the group. When they saw their allies being killed, the ones at the bottom of the stairs increased their speed, but then the Frontline attacked them with all their might and knocked several of them like bowling pins.
"Increase your speed, don't take too long to finish them off!" Vanessa shouted. "Don't focus on attacking too much either!"
Terry wanted to level up the crystal gloves as much as possible, but he would have time for that since the dungeon was now his. So, he just punched the enemies a few times before dashing forward.
Despite the wounds that a few of them suffered, the morale of the group was sky-high, and since the enemies didn't have a leader, their lines were cut like butter against a hot knife.
Once they broke through their lines, Vanessa dropped a powerful lightning bolt on the group that tried to chase them, and that paralyzed dozens of them for several seconds... more than enough time for the group to reach and jump over the walls.
"Don't slow down, and don't drop your guard!" Vanessa shouted again.
Despite Vanessa's worries, the group wasn't pursued by the enemies. They reached the portal and crossed it just fine. Only to find Vanessa's guild members pointing their weapons at them.
"Relax, guys, it is just us," Vanessa said and then noticed that the portal had decreased in size. "Mission is over."
The people of the city celebrated the news, but the guild masters only wanted to rest. They got some experience, but only one of them gained the dungeon.
"What are you going to do with the dungeon?" Vanessa asked upon noticing the curiosity of the other guild masters.
"Anyone who wants to use it can use it," Terry replied. "Naturally, I want half of the resources and magic stones."
That was better than nothing for everyone. They could get some materials and magic stones. Speaking of materials, Terry checked the metal plates that he obtained, but they didn't react in any way. Perhaps he should ask Vanessa how their research is going regarding those... still, before anything, Terry went to his room to sleep.
In the end, Terry only woke up in the middle of the morning when his cell phone was ringing. When he opened it, Rebecca's image showed up. The first thing she did was to raise her voice once she saw Terry's bed hair.
"Rise and shine, sunshine!" Rebecca said.
"... What do you want?" Terry asked while showing the expression of someone who wanted to sleep for a day and only half an hour to take a nap.
"Just wanted to check things on your end," Rebecca asked. "Nothing major happened here so far."
"I managed to get the dungeon, so you should work on sending the guys that you have here," Terry said. "I am going to return once or twice to Chicago in order to make some adjustments, but there are a lot of things to investigate here."
"Already... just how... I heard that Vanessa couldn't obtain control of the dungeon, and yet..." Rebecca said while frowning. "You are truly unbelievable."
"So, you have heard of her," Terry said. "Nevertheless, you should work on choosing if you want to work here or there. Giving your role to someone that we don't know for long might cause problems, but I doubt that someone will try to steal from me, even more so after those two saw yesterday."
"What did you show them?" Rebecca asked.
"Nothing major," Terry said, and then he got up and turned around. "I will leave the decision in your hands." most uptodate nov𝑒ls are publish𝒆d on ƒreewebηoveℓ.com.
Terry ended the call, and Rebecca looked at the cell phone for a while.
"That was some nice ass..." Rebecca muttered.
On Terry's end, he noticed that he was naked, and he worried if that was shown to the other side, but he soon shrugged. That wasn't important... once he cleaned himself and put on some clothes, Terry went to check the dungeon and confirmed that the portal had returned to the normal size of five meters. He also saw some guild masters fighting the enemies that appeared now and then.
"They are still doing that... why?" Terry frowned.
Terry couldn't help but be surprised... that seemed like a stupid way to decrease their numbers. Something was off, so he decided to check things with Vanessa and see if they knew something about that. She was talking with some guild masters in that big tent.
"You showed up at a good time..." Vanessa said when Terry arrived. "We were thinking of checking the other side... we prepared to face a small-scale invasion of these things, but that didn't happen, and they keep sending monsters now and then." freeweɓnøvel.com
"So, that never happened before?" Terry asked.
"I can only speak of my experience, but I don't think that in our country, a dungeon where monsters emerge as soon as a portal appears has ever existed," Vanessa said. "We might be dealing with a new type of dungeon."
Terry nodded; it made sense. Still, he wondered if he was unlucky or unlucky for finding two dungeons in which the bosses had similar characteristics to get stronger. The other guild masters also were interested in the matter, so they decided to delay the departure a bit.
