Chapter 98 – Konoha 04.
[Chapter Size: 1900 Words.]
Third Person POV
Fire Country, Year 36.
...
...
It was a bit late when Minato appeared with Kushina at his house in Konoha.
"Hahahaha... That was so amazing! I've never seen a festival like this in Konoha!" Kushina exclaimed, laughing while still wearing her outfit.
"Glad you enjoyed it..." Minato said with a small smile to Kushina.
"We could do this more often!" She said.
"Yes... we will do it again when we have the opportunity." Minato commented, nodding. "Anyway, let's take her home." He told her and she nodded.
Leaving the apartment, they walked through the streets of Konoha while some women looked strangely at Kushina's dress, wondering why she was wearing it. Minato was fine, still having some chakra reserve, after all, he had used his Raijin much closer to home than when he left the coast.
They continued through the streets until they reached the Senju residence in the middle of the village. Entering calmly and escorting Kushina to the main house, where Mito was already waiting, leaning on a cane and looking at them with a raised eyebrow.
"I was wondering where you were, after all, I didn't feel your presence in the village anymore..." She said, being a powerful sensor ninja, finding Kushina was easy... "Besides, what are those clothes, it looks like you went to another town outside the village." She said with a smile while Kushina became embarrassed.
"Hello Mito-Sama..." Minato greeted her and internally wondered how she came to that conclusion.
"Haha. Don't look at me like that, can you go in and make some tea for us, Kushina? I'll talk with our guest." She said and Kushina nodded while Mito asked Minato to follow her.
He followed her to that room where she usually received him, sitting in front of her. "It's only been a few days since I last saw you and you are already in the village spotlight." She said.
"I just completed my mission." Minato spoke calmly, already aware that everyone knew he had saved the Daimyo.
"My young man, you might just be the finest youth born in this village... I hope you continue to protect this place that I and my husband built..." She said. "After all, my time is running out..."
"What do you mean..." Mito always spoke that phrase, but this time it seemed different from before.
"Didn't Kushina tell you?" Mito asked.
"I couldn't..." Kushina appeared at that moment with the tea, saying it in an apologetic and embarrassed tone. In fact, she planned to tell Minato, but he had grabbed her and used Raijin to the southern coast.
"It's alright, can you leave us alone, my dear?" Mito asked, knowing this subject was delicate for the girl.
Kushina nodded and began to leave the room, leaving them alone, while Minato frowned.
"You know that while you were away, a meeting with the elders happened, I only have a few more months, before transferring the Kyuubi to Kushina..." She said, leaving Minato unsure how to respond.
"You'll keep this a secret from the rest of the village, won't you?" Minato practically demanded, after all, the life of a Jinchuriki was not easy, like Naruto and all his counterparts in other villages.
"Calm down, my boy." Mito was not angry, instead, she laughed cheerfully. "Kushina will be safe, I made it very clear to those three elders and was fortunate the worst of them wasn't there." She said, after all, Danzo was on the battlefield.
"Sorry about this." Minato said with a sigh.
"It's okay, as I've always told you, I'm happy that Kushina has someone like you by her side." She said and smiled. "I hope you keep growing, I'm sure there are already many people watching your achievements and it won't be long before you receive the admiration of the entire village, to become someone very important." She said.
"I hope so..." He said.
"That's good, I want to give you something, maybe this is the last time we'll see each other with you going to war." She said, leaving him speechless, this elderly woman had helped him so much over the last few years, it was a complicated feeling when she asserted that it would be their last meeting.
"I'm very sorry about this..." He said at the end, a bit emotional.
"Don't be." She said. "I'm old, my time was another, and I must leave this world to meet my husband... so I'm happy with that, my role has finally ended here and now you will take the reins of this world
." She spoke with a smile, not caring whether she would die or not.
"What I want is for you to keep all the copies of my Fuuinjutsu knowledge, so you can help Kushina contain the Kyuubi that will pass to her. Don't worry if she will be without these scrolls, because these are just copies, she will still study the original texts on her own, but I trust you, you have a talent with Fuuinjutsu and can become a master like me or Kushina, I hope for her." She pulled a scroll from her clothing, which contained all the others.
"I don't know what to say, Mito-Sama..." Minato murmured.
"It's alright..." She said, and Minato ended up accepting.
"Thank you..." He said, not knowing how to continue.
"You can come visit me while you are in Konoha, it doesn't have to be the last of our meetings, we can have dinner, after all, you could make some food for this old lady, the girls always said your food was the best." She spoke cheerfully, and Minato nodded.
He stored the scroll and began to stand up to leave, after saying goodbye to Mito, Minato left the house and found Kushina outside, she still had the same dress on, but now with tears in her eyes.
"Kushina..." Minato murmured seeing her sad.
She didn't just respond, she hugged him tightly. "She is going to leave us soon... I wished you could at least have been here..." She said in a tearful tone, knowing that Minato would be going to war.
"I'm so sorry about this... but I have my role in the war now. I will leave, but you have my seal, as soon as you need me, I'll be here in a second." Minato assured her.
"It's okay..." She said, but didn't let go of the hug.
They stayed like that for a while until Minato had to pull away. "I'm leaving, but if you want, I'm going to visit my old orphanage, if you want to come along, you can." He said and she nodded.
Minato left after that, returning to his apartment, he was going to sleep, but he was curious about Mito's scrolls, using his hands, he made his room fill with over 200 Fuuinjutsu scrolls...
"This is so much!" He couldn't help but exclaim as he looked over each of the titles, there were seals he had never studied, although they were at levels he already mastered and there were seals above his level that he could study to increase his skill and knowledge.
"I never expected something like this..." He couldn't help but murmur. It seemed that his stay on the battlefield would be a good place for him to study all these scrolls, although he didn't think he would master all of this in the coming years.
Minato decided to sleep after this, but not before keeping a clone on watch against his neighbor, he woke up the next day, while having coffee, Kushina was there, wanting to accompany him for the day, after all Minato would be leaving soon and she wanted to be with him as much as she could.
"Let's go." He said getting ready and leaving with her.
They walked calmly through the streets while Konoha was waking up, until they approached the poorest part of the village, soon finding the old orphanage of Minato, with some children playing in front of the place.
Minato had visited the place a few times, but not in the way he would have liked due to his intense training regime before becoming a genin. He didn't even recognize all the children there playing, being new orphans.
Minato approached the place, "Minato!!" One of the children recognized him immediately while others also ran to him, some were confused not knowing who he was.
"We heard you became a genin! The others became one too, but no one was more incredible than you!!" The children exclaimed hugging his legs.
"Hello everyone, is Madame Gorete here?" He asked while being pushed by the little ones.
"Are they your fans or something?" Kushina couldn't help but ask laughing next to him.
"Not that I know of..." Minato murmured in quite a predicament there. He noticed the children looking confused at him while there was a boy in a corner crying, not caring what was happening, Minato also didn't recognize him.
"Children... Let him be." Madame Gorete's voice was heard as the children finally let him go, Minato looked at the woman with a thankful glimmer.
"Hello Madame Gorete..." Minato spoke with a tone of nostalgia, after all, he owed a lot to this woman.
"Hello little one. You became a genin in just
a few days and it seems you've grown so much..." She said, after all the last time she saw him was at the academy graduation while she was congratulating him, just over a week ago.
"How are things?" He asked.
"Very well, the money you gave me is still providing a good stock of food for everyone..." She spoke, but her tone seemed quite tired.
"What's the problem...?" Minato asked worriedly.
"The number of children coming here is increasing, Minato... You see that boy..." She pointed to the child Minato had noticed earlier, sitting while crying. "His father died at the start of the war, his mother went to the northern border and died a week ago... He was sent here and I don't know what to do to make him eat or stop crying. It's hard..." She murmured with some sadness, which surprised Minato, as that woman, who was used to dealing with this, was having trouble... It must be a very delicate situation.
She continued, "It's not just him, but the numbers are growing every week... Anyway... it's good to see you well... some of my former charges told me you returned two days ago and did very well in a high-level situation..." She spoke with a tone of pride, and Minato nodded, but without wanting to boast about it.
"I'm proud, continue growing and becoming strong, I believe in you more than I've ever believed in anyone." She said and then turned to Kushina. "I see this young lady is always with you, have you made anything official?" She asked, making Kushina embarrassed and even Minato scratching his head.
"We are too young for that, Madame Gorete..." Minato murmured.
"Haha. Don't be like that. Let's go inside and have some tea, I'm sure the older children would like to see you again." She asked him to follow, and Minato nodded, entering the orphanage with Kushina shortly after.
Minato would have another long day today, wanting to spend time with all his acquaintances, the orphanage would just be the first stop he made.
