Chapter 307: Audition
"We'll now begin the auditions."
After Utaha came to Kyoto and had fun with him, Mizuto continued with his practice with the tenor sax.
While Saito's quitting decision in the past caused trouble in the beginning, no trace of that trouble is seen anymore.
Everyone had become one, and their goal had been aligned, which was to partake in the Concert Band Club.
"The A-group competition, in which we're partaking, allows up to fifty-five members per team. In other words, some of your numbers here will be disqualified. Everyone, are you nervous?"
Standing in front of everyone, Taki asked those words gently, causing all of them to feel helpless since this guy was the cause of everything.
"I am!"
However, everyone answered their worries and showed that they were nervous. Whether they were in the first grade, second, or third, it was impossible for them not to be nervous. They were all high school students, and unless they had an unbelievable level that made them able to believe in themselves, thinking that they were the best, and would be naturally chosen on the main group, then naturally, they would be nervous.
"Of course."
Frankly, not everyone loved the auditions since it would cause a conflict. Having to wait one year wasn't a bad deal at all for some, but naturally, such a thought couldn't be appreciated by all.
In other words, there was no perfect method in this world.
However, if they wanted to enter the Concert Band Competition and bring the glory of the Nationals to their club, then the audition was the only way to do it.
"But I believe all of you deserve to be in the competition. You have all worked very hard. Please stand tall and show me the fruits of your efforts. Let's begin."
"Thank you!"
With that end of words, the audition started, and everyone was called one by one to the room for an audition and to be judged by Taki Noboru and Michie Matsumoto.
Mizuto also felt relaxed since, unlike the others, he didn't feel much of tense that came from the audition.
"You are so calm, Irido-kun," Haruka, the leader of the concert band club and also the saxophone section leader, said in jealousy.
"There's nothing to be nervous about anyway. I am still a first year. If I don't get elected, then that's it."
While Mizuto could act arrogantly, saying that he didn't think that he would be chosen, he knew that such words were definitely asking for being killed by others, especially when he was the youngest and all of his surroundings were girls.
"If you don't get elected, then I think there is something wrong with the auditions," Raimu Okamoto, a third-year and alto sax player, said with so much vigor.
Hearing those words, Mizuto only smiled softly, causing Raimu to blush and fan her face with her hand since her face was so hot~!
Yes, Mizuto might have played the tenor sax, but he was also part of the saxophone group, so his relationship was quite close with all of them. If there was something that troubled him, it was the fact that, like the basson and oboe group, the saxophone group was all filled with girls, which made him helpless.
Yet, this was the fate of the concert band club since most of the members were female.
While the boys existed, they were the minority.
Still, on this audition, there was no doubt that Mizuto's position was as good as passed since no one else could play a tenor sax, and his skill was top-notch.
Nevertheless, he had to say, being surrounded by girls was a little troublesome since their conversation was like this and that. Most of them were meaningless, but fortunately, they often gave him fan services such as opening her smooth white legs or just leaning slightly forward, leaning on him.
Anyway, he had a hard time since he was afraid that he might make another mistake.
Fortunately, Michiko soon called his name. "Mizuto Irido, please come on."
"It's your turn!"
"Do your best!"
"Come on, Irido-kun!"
Mizuto had to say that he was glad to join the concert band club since it allowed him to train his willpower so he wouldn't be swayed by the temptations of many cute high school girls.
"Thanks, do your best too, Senpai," Mizuto said calmly before he left, causing all of them to sigh helplessly in regret since they wanted to stay with him more. Still, when he was about to enter the audition room, he saw Asuka was outside, seemingly waiting for him.
"Yo~!" Asuka smiled sweetly at him.
"What's wrong, Senpai? Are you here to interrupt my state of mind so I won't be able to focus on my play?"
Asuka laughed and smiled even sweeter. "That's not a bad idea~! That way, there is no need to worry about you taking the solo position~!" Still, before Mizuto said something, she hugged him tightly and said, "Do your best."
"Um."
Mizuto patted Asuka's back gently, feeling her softness and warmth. Frankly, he had never thought that their relationship would last long, but it was also hard to say that they also had a relationship since they had just kissed each other or talked during the break before they continued to practice on their own.
While he thought of her as someone to make his time at the club colorful, Asuka might think of him differently.
What was it again... someone who supported each other to achieve their ambitions?
"I will do my best, too." Asuka's voice was soft, but it carried her determination. "The Seventh Night of July - Itaru Sakai... let's get the duet solo place." When she thought about how she and he would perform on the stage as they played this duet song, she felt her chest was full of butterflies, but his words annoyed her.
"Can you? Your opponent isn't easy."
"Don't underestimate me! I have learned! Also, you gave me that note, right? Thanks~!" Asuka kissed his cheek many times since, like Reina and Mizore, Mizuto also gave her a note filled with instructions on how to improve her euphonium skill. "If you do well, I will give you a good reward~!"
"..."
Mizuto blinked his eyes, then asked, "What if I don't do well?"
"Oh, I will comfort you well~!"
Mizuto laughed, then patted the healthy shape of buttocks and said, "Then, wait for the good news."
Watching him enter the audition room, Asuka blushed while touching her buttocks. Was this love? If so, then it was amazing as it could give her the power to do anything.
Mizuto didn't know what Asuka was thinking, and he entered the audition room as he faced the two teachers. "Excuse me."
"Come in, Irido-kun." 2x
The two teachers welcomed him kindly.
"Please sit down."
"Yes."
Mizuto sat on the seat opposite Taki and Michiko.
"Before we start, can I ask you something?" Taki asked.
"Sure."
"I know that it might seem weird, but when did you start to learn a wind instrument?" Taki asked since this question had been bothering him. "Please tell me the truth."
"I started to learn after I joined the club."
"..." 2x
Taki and Michiko were speechless.
"Really? And you are this good?" Taki was at a loss.
"I guess... I'm just quite good at this," Mizuto said.
It wasn't just good; this guy was like the god of music that descended from heaven, Taki thought.
However, this also made Taki excited, and said, "Then, please give me your all, Irido-kun. Show me all of your skills. Don't hold back anymore."
"Yes."
Mizuto also wasn't planning to hold back and showed his everything at the auditions.
As he blew his tenor sax, the sweet, hot, and gentle sound filled the entire room.
At this moment, even without hearing the rest of the performance of others, Taki and Michiko had already made up their minds.
The audition results were soon announced, yet no one expected it to have such an undesirable impact, or not, since it was he who was chosen.
