Chapter 63 Lawrence’s Locker
Lawrence built a simple wooden frame and placed it in the sleeping area.
This is not my home, but I’ll make do with it temporarily and talk about it later.
Lawrence stood on the wooden frame and paused to admire it for more than a minute, checking where the wooden frame needed improvement.
The wooden frame is 1.6 meters high, 1.2 meters wide on the left and right, and 40 centimeters wide inside and outside. There are a total of 17 spaces for storing things.
"It would be perfect if there were drawers, but it's just too troublesome."
Lawrence accepted the imperfection, smiling as he placed the nearby tools inside.
Lawrence tilted his hoe into the space on the far side, which was a vertically separated grid suitable for long-handled tools.
In addition to Lawrence's killer hoe, there is also the scavenger dagger that Sophia has been using since she picked it up.
nine iron nails
One hand-operated wood drill, one iron nail drill bit, ten 0.3 cm wood drill bits, three 0.5 cm wood nail drill bits, ten 1 cm wood drill bits, and two spare lead ropes.
Forest squirrel storage bag*1
A traveler's stick
three spears
A wooden board clip for storing resin
Lawrence's teaching board is a piece of wood and a box of charcoal pencils.
Trap rope one meter
Wood chips: more than ten kilograms
The unprocessed copper ore is placed at the bottom. Because there is no time to measure the specific weight and process it, it is placed at the bottom of the pressure box.
The charcoal burned before and some daily tools were shared by Andrew's family and Lawrence, so they were not put in.
There is no need to put the clothes and shoes you are wearing, there are already a lot of them just put in now.
Looking at his gains this time, Lawrence showed a satisfied look.
"When we go to the stone house in the future, we will repair the livestock pen first, and then continue to collect materials. After it is almost settled, we will build a better big house."
Lawrence lay in bed thinking about the future.
"It needs three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom, a storage room, and a study room."
“The pet room can be placed outside, with a kennel built in a large stone-fenced yard and planted with grape vines and apple trees.”
"I usually go out hunting or exchange prey for some supplies, while Sophia grows vegetables at home, cleans the housework, and takes care of the livestock."
"After we have children, the family will cultivate fields and expand their houses together."
Lawrence thought of beautiful things and soon fell asleep happily.
Early the next morning, Lawrence put on his gear and walked out of the room.
"Salil, I'm going to build a house on the mountain today and I won't be back at noon."
Salil was just about to go out to feed the livestock when she heard it and said, "Okay."
Seeing that Salil was not very happy, Lawrence smiled and said, "Andrew has been out for more than ten days. It won't take long before he can come back."
Salil's mood became even worse, "I hope so."
She walked right out, looking like she didn't want to talk to Lawrence.
Lawrence thought of something and quickly picked up a wooden jar made yesterday from a nearby box.
"Sariel, this is for you."
Salil turned around when she heard it outside the door, and walked in again to look at the wooden jar handed over by Lawrence.
I took it and looked at it. It was a barrel made of hollowed wood, like a drinking cup.
"Why did you give me this?" Salil didn't understand the meaning of this.
Lawrence explained: "I have previously calculated our grain storage and the amount of food we should consume every day, and combined it with the flour we have eaten in the past few days to make this cup."
"When you cook, just fill this cup with flour so that we can have food until the end of spring."
What Lawrence gave was a graduated cup. This thing looks like just a cup and is of no use to many people. However, it is not complicated to make. As long as you follow it strictly, you can determine the approximate food storage.
Salil shook her head and said earnestly: "Lawrence, eating is a sacred thing. You can eat whatever you want. If you want to eat more, you can put more noodles. We can't have our mouths pinched even when we eat. I don’t like this stuff.”
Saryl returned the graduated cup to Lawrence and went out to work.
Lawrence reluctantly took the graduated cup, walked back to the house and placed it on the wooden shelf.
If you don’t need it, don’t use it. I’ll change it to a smaller one for Sophia in the future.
Lawrence set out for the mountains and began a busy day.
The stone houses on the mountain are still very simple. They have not yet been capped, and the problems with moisture, doors and windows have not been solved.
This is just a backup place. Lawrence will disturb Andrew's house for a while after Andrew comes back.
If you have an unpleasant experience and need to find a place to sleep by yourself, then this is the best choice.
I hadn't been to the mountain for several days, and when I got in front of the stone house, I found that the trap in the stone house had been triggered.
In order to control rats, simple collapse traps were set up near nearby rocks. Later, several sloping rocks were also placed in the stone house.
The stone house can be protected from some strong winds, and the dark hole is full of concealment for small animals. Rabbits, mice, and foxes all like to run here.
There were leftover rat corpses in Lawrence's stone house.
"It's really troublesome..." Lawrence sighed, found a branch and threw the mouse with only its tail and part of its fur out.
If prey is not harvested immediately, it can easily be stolen by other predators.
Especially in winter, when it is difficult to find food, most predators are accustomed to trying their luck.
Lawrence checked around and found that the hay collected earlier was already wet, probably due to the previous heavy fog and water vapor on the mountain.
"I forgot to make moisture-proof settings..."
Lawrence thought about the problem at hand and quickly thought of a solution.
"You can put a circle of wooden boards in the round house to create a comfortable home floor. It would be nice to have moisture-proof wooden boards and carpets in the winter, as well as a warm fireplace for heating!"
Lawrence soon had a plan.
First, use ropes and wooden sticks to actually measure the tools and materials needed later, then pile hay into the stone house, and put leftover food scraps inside the stone house, as well as a suspended noose trap.
Lawrence sprinkled the trap with wet grass blades, and the mutton residue inside was enough to attract some small animals.
After doing all this, it was time to go down the mountain. Lawrence looked at the darkening sky and sped up to return to the house before dark.
"Strange, why does it feel like the days are getting shorter and shorter? Although this is the case in winter, it's a little too fast?"
Lawrence thought about it after returning home and quickly decided to make two timing props to locate the time.
One is placed here in the house and the other is placed on the mountain, so that both parties can have a tacit psychological preparation.
