Chapter 57 Foggy Day
In the early morning, Lawrence went out to solve personal problems. As soon as he opened the door, he saw a vast white mist.
The world outside the door can no longer be seen clearly. Even the firewood in the yard in front of the door and the hut two meters away seem to have disappeared.
Lawrence walked more than one meter into the fog and found that he was completely shrouded in fog, unable to see the front and left and right directions at all.
He turned around and looked into the house. Fortunately, he could still see the doorway.
Lawrence quickly returned to the house and took down his travel stick from the wall next to the door.
The travel stick is a structure similar to a dragon head staff. It can be used as a hook or a hammer weapon. It is usually used to explore paths and maintain balance.
Compared with ordinary small wooden sticks, the travel stick is thicker and can support Lawrence's weight at critical moments.
After holding the wooden stick in his hand, Lawrence carefully went out to investigate the situation.
I absolutely couldn't run far at this time, so I just went to the livestock pen to check on the animals at home.
Relying on his memory and using wooden sticks to find his way, Lawrence carefully walked into the livestock pen by feeling the walls and fences.
"Mea~"
Several sheep felt the movement and made hungry sounds. They usually started feeding at this time.
Lawrence could not clearly see the situation in the sheep pen, so he first checked the condition of the Dom sheep, goats and sheep, and then went to the pig pen after confirming that they were all still alive.
There is no need to go into the pigsty, just use a wooden stick to search tentatively inside, and soon the gray pig will grunt and escape.
The other three little pigs were locked in the sheep pen, otherwise they would be bitten by the big pig if they were together, especially when they were eating together, they would be easily killed by the big pig.
The chickens in the chicken pen got along very well, and Lawrence returned the same way after making sure everything was fine.
"Fortunately, the mist is not poisonous."
Lawrence breathed a sigh of relief.
He still remembered that there was a poisonous mountain nearby, and animals and plants near it would be poisoned to death, so after the fog started, he first checked on his own animals.
As long as the animals that have been outside inhaling the fog all night are still alive, then the fog will be fine.
If he died, he would have to find a way quickly.
When Lawrence returned to the house, he noticed a fire in the kitchen and went in.
The kitchen was still dark, mainly because there was no sunlight, and the only thing that could illuminate was the fire under the hanging pot.
Sariel was sitting next to the fire and quickly turned her head to look at Lawrence.
"Lawrence, don't go to the mountains today. Let's go to the town to get something after the fog clears. Emma should have snake oil ointment ready."
Lawrence felt much more relaxed and said, "Okay."
After agreeing, Lawrence asked again: "Is there often such heavy fog in the mountains?"
Salil continued to light the fire and cook the soup, and said casually: "It often happens in winter, and sometimes it happens in summer."
Lawrence continued to ask: "Are there really witches on the nearby Talim Mountain?"
Sariel frowned, "It's not a witch, it's a witch."
Lawrence became more concerned and walked to sit across from Sariel, "Is there really a witch?"
Salil said unhappily: "Yes, Lawrence, aren't you a scholar? Why don't you believe in witches yet?"
Lawrence smiled and said: "I have never seen a real witch. What kind of woman is that witch?"
Salil recalled, "It was a lady wearing a black skirt. Although my father warned me not to get close to it, I felt that the witch was not a bad person."
Lawrence listened to the story quietly, "Why do you say that?"
Sariel said: "Because of that mountain, many dangerous animals will not come to us from there. I have lived here for more than ten years and it has always been very safe. I believe that the witch is the guardian here. "
Sariel looked at Lawrence, "Lawrence, do you believe she is the guardian here?"
Lawrence smiled and said, "Okay, I believe it too."
At this time, Sophia's panicked shouts came from outside.
"Master? Sariel! Where are you?"
Lawrence heard Sophia's panic and shouted quickly: "Here in the kitchen, don't run around, don't come out, I'm in the house."
"Okay!" Sophia, who had just gotten up but found that the house was empty and the outside was completely white, quickly felt relieved.
Lawrence was about to go find Sophia when he saw Sophia running into the kitchen and quickly hugged his arms.
"Let's go visit the town in the afternoon. I'll feed the animals first, and you and Salil can cook." Lawrence stood up and started busy with the new day.
Sophia let go of Lawrence and said reassuringly: "Okay!"
Soon everyone started to get busy, and after feeding the livestock, they gathered together to eat.
Salil fell in love with soup. The mutton soup tasted really good and was more appetizing than barbecue.
After eating, it became empty. Lawrence did not explore the fog, so he could only sit in the house and process wood pieces, planning to make a comb for himself.
Use small rectangular pieces of wood as material and carefully cut gaps in them.
The first one and the second one quickly shattered. Lawrence had no choice but to open up the gap between the spaces and barely make a usable one first.
Salil and Sophia were sitting on the side playing backgammon. This simple and easy-to-play game is very popular with the two girls and it is also very easy to pass the time.
Towards the afternoon, the fog outside began to dissipate a little.
After taking a look, Salil said: "It may take a few days to go down. Now that we can see things, let's go get some water, otherwise the fog will rise again at night."
"Okay!" Lawrence and Sophia certainly had no objection.
The three of them quickly went to fetch water together, fed the animals more food and drink, and cleaned up together to remove the smelly grass clippings and feces.
The animals always spill water everywhere when drinking water, and then step on it. No matter how many times you clean it, it always becomes dirty again soon.
The foggy evening came early and was especially quiet.
Lawrence had endless things to do. After making the comb, he took a pile of wood to make a tool box. He even used scraps to make twenty oblate chess pieces the size of bottle caps for Salil and Sophia.
Salil and Sophia had been sitting there playing chess quietly. When they were bored, they cut a few pieces of radish to eat and looked at the chessboard intently, as if they would never get tired of playing.
Lawrence spent an afternoon making a toolbox for Andrew, and also made a few wooden sticks with inlaid positions to facilitate linking and binding when building a house in the future.
He quickly went back to fixing the wooden frame of the chimney. While he was busy, he saw Salil standing up.
Salil stretched her strong and toned arms and twisted her waist to move her body.
She looked at the dark night outside and said happily:
“Time flies so fast, it’s already getting dark just after dinner.”
