Chapter 52
Chapter 52
“My name is Kogure. It’s a pleasure.”
It feels dangerous to give out my first name to someone I know nothing about, so my last name will do.
“Cohgray... ah, I have heard of your name recently in Lif’el and Nisua.”
It seems like everybody has heard about me already.
In that case, I probably won’t seem too suspicious to her.
“Celes was the one who gifted me the expensive medicine when I was sick. You treat her kindly now, you hear?”
‘She seems to be well-established.’
“Wayne is a master blacksmith who has not only forged quality equipment for me, but even lent out apprentices to me. It is natural for me to repay him.”
Jeez... she’s some sort of saint.
Repay favors with favors, huh? She’s probably a good person.
It seems like Wayne survived thanks to her help.
“To be frank, this is the first time I have seen his condition improve. Quite the wonderous treatment you have done.”
“Well, I was blessed with the chance to learn... still, I am very glad it went well for Wayne too.”
The truth is that Veno did the diagnosis. All I did was pump out some Mollifying Poison.
“You needn’t be so humble. After all, you have accomplished it to great effect. Please accept my gratitude for curing Wayne.”
“Who knows if I’m actually cured.”
Wayne coldly interjects.
“You are so much better already. I believe it would be better for your body if you were not to worry so much.”
“I’d say so too. It seems like to me like you’re all better too.”
“So he says, Master Wayne.”
“... hmpf.”
Wayne seemed satisfied with what we had to say.
After that, Celes looks towards Arleaf and Muu.
“My name is Arleaf.”
“Muu!”
“Ah, you must be the relative of Master Wayne. You are a very adorable girl. Cohgray’s wife, I assume?”
“W-Wife...”
Arleaf turns bright red.
That’s cute, but at least correct her.
“Oh, no... Arleaf’s father merely volunteered me to be her fiancé is all. We’re not officially anything of the sort.”
“Is that right? A wholesome relationship then.”
“Right. And this here is Muu, a Myconid I created. Muu’s an indispensable part of our party.”
“Mu!”
Muu strikes a very charming pose whenever he meets someone new.
“I would be delighted to have such a lively party. By the way, I don’t believe that Master Wayne has compensated you for curing him?”
Oh, what’s this? You’re feel that grateful for me?
‘Tit for tat? How petty. Her kindness is overwhelming.’
What are you talking about? You’re a pathetic dragon who can’t even bear to take a human’s life.
Arleaf and the rest might address you as some holy dragon, but you’re just a timid little guy inside.
‘Thou dost little else but try to make a fool of me.’
At any rate, I’d feel bad if she tried to thank me any more than this. I’ll have to turn her down.
“Oh, Wayne had been more than generous in his thanks. Please don’t worry about that.”
“But... hmm.”
Ah, she’s not pushing the issue any further.
It seems like she just brought up how she really felt.
“Perfect timing. Since you’re here, Celes, you all should go procure me some materials. I’d like to keep smithing for as long as my body can move. Could I count on you all to bring me back some quality materials?”
Wayne breaks the tension with his plan.
“Is that all?”
“You can train them up for me too. It’d be nice for them to experience what a powerful adventurer is like.”
“Understood. Let me be of aid.”
“Are you sure?”
Celes nods in response to Arleaf’s question.
“Yes. Originally, I had some place to hurry to, but they haven’t verified the intel yet, so I am currently waiting for orders.”
“Then when your orders come, you’ll have to move out, right?”
“Correct. I may not be of too much help, but I’d like to try my best.”
Guess we got ourselves a high-leveled adventurer to join us...
Mm, not a bad thing, I think.
I should be able to get stronger with her power levelling me.
I take the chance to practise with my crossbow.
Muu runs with the target and I take shots.
I’m able to run and shoot at the same time, so I think I got quite a bit better than before.
It’s all thanks to Arleaf’s cooking that I’m able to learn so quickly.
And my Aiming Shot got upgraded as well. It turned into Power Shot and I also learned Meteor Shot.
Power Shot is as its name suggests; my bolts do roughly about twice the damage.
Meteor Shot enables me to launch a magical bolt that calls down a storm of meteorite-like rocks.
After using the bolts, I make sure to retrieve all of them if I can. The problem is that they only can only withstand so much abuse before breaking.
To be honest, I’m kinda worried about the number of bolts I have left.
It doesn’t have to be from Wayne, but I gotta get some more from a blacksmith. For now, I’ll just get Wayne to finish what he has planned for me.
“Alright then. Do you want to go out soon?”
Celes might not have a lot of time on her hands, so we best get hurrying.
“It ain’t as good as what you normally use, but I’ll lend you a crossbow for the meantime as well as an axe and a staff. I’ll be waitin’ here for y’all.”
Ooh, how magnanimous of you, Wayne.
On his orders, Rurika handed over some weapons to us.
