Chapter 392: Pew-Pew-Pew (1)
Chapter 392: Pew-Pew-Pew (1)
"Huh… Huh… Thank you, Boss…" the soldier had a few deep breaths as his mind was cleared from all the dark emotions clouding his mind. Were Zhang Qin Feng a few seconds slower, he would have turned into one of the zombies.
But from this moment onwards, this soldier would have to rely on the serum treatment for life to tame the virus within him. Without this continuous vaccination serum, the Seed Crystal Virus inside him would flare up for sure.
And while the soldier was gradually regaining his sanity, Zhang Qin Feng threw aside the empty syringe with Grade-G Decrystallization Serum. He can be counted as quite lucky that the one that bit him was a zombie and not the Tyrants.
If the Tyrant Variant was the one that injured him, he would have turned even with the serum administered.
Shifting what's in his hand with a set of Phalanx and machete, Zhang Qin Feng charged into the zombies' crowd and fought against the virus carriers to buy everyone some time.
Based on their current situation, they don't even have the luxury to reload their weapon, let aside taking a few deep breaths.
With Zhang Qin Feng's skills and physical fitness alone, it won't be a problem for him to go one on one against a Tyrant. But there's still a gap for him to go against the Tyrant Variant.
But he had more than enough to go against the zombies coming at them. The machete itself is more than enough for Zhang Qin Feng to clear 90% of the crowd before he grabs the nearest Chain-Lightning Minigun lying on the ground.
"Sir… I'm fine. Leave the back to me," the soldier said.
"Alright. I'll be relying on you. Don't give up. We'll get through this together." Zhang Qin Feng put his hand on the soldier's shoulder and returned to his post.
"Wahhh!!!" Zhang Qin Feng cried when he pulled the trigger and continued pelting the thick maintenance cover for the power station. In a situation like this, making noise or not no longer has a meaning as they're already exposed from the moment they attack the beacon site.
*Bang! Bang! Bang!*
*Bang! Bang! Bang!*
The firepower unleashed by Zhang Qin Feng was aligned with the Tyrant Variant's fierce attack. And the result was terrific as the protection was taken apart faster than they expected.
From the ugly look on the mutant's expression, it was more aggressive than before. It's likely the Tyrant Variant is starting to lose its patience against Zhang Tianci. It was understandable, as the latter was moving around like a catfish in avoiding direct confrontation.
Soon, more than half of the control panel was exposed to the fierce firepower. This was the cue to proceed into another stage.
"Focus all your firepower at the inner part of the power station and tear it apart!" Zhang Qin Feng yelled. His order even got Zhang Tianci to yield to his command and cooperate.
He immediately tossed all the grenades he had into the power station in an attempt to blow it apart from the inside.
Likewise, Zhang Qin Feng and the other three soldiers focused all their firepower on the opened section, hoping they'd be successful.
The explosion that soon followed immediately attracted all the attention of both virus carriers and humans. But instead of coming right to where the commotion happened, everyone's attention is on the ray of golden light coming out from the beacon site.
The power station seems to be still standing strong, with few parts are still operational. For the first time in Zhang Qin Feng's life, he complained about why the buildings were built so sturdily in the pre-apocalypse.
What's followed next was a slight disturbance in the ray of golden light. They flickered a few times, but there's no hint it's going offline.
"Continue! Don't stop attacking!" Zhang Qin Feng yelled. But nobody reacted except for himself. Even Zhang Tianci had expanded all the ammunition he had in an attempt to bring down the power station.
Zhang Qin Feng's Chain-Lightning was also firing blanks after forcing out the remaining hundred shots or so.
"Boss… We're all out…" the three soldiers said as they shifted their weapon into the machete that comes along in their weaponry set.
As they finished with their words, the flickering stopped. But instead of closing down, the ray of golden light remained. It seems that all their attempt was futile as the electronic interference is still around.
*Whoosh!*
*Bang!*
Zhang Tianci was crushed as the Tyrant Variant's attack finally connected. This time, Zhang Tianci ended up as the object that crashed onto the power station and not the mutant's fist.
But this blow itself also made Zhang Qin Feng's Luna Device vibrates. It seems that the impact forced the flickering to repeat itself again.
'The flickering…' Zhang Qin Feng quickly raised his right arm to check his Luna Device.
[Nightstalker…]
[Fi… Fire…]
[Night… Stalker… Ac… Ac… Act… Active…]
A flash of hope finally came to Zhang Qin Feng as he received support from Stein. At the same time, it seems that the flickering lights also allowed his remaining crews to come closer to them without a hindrance.
"Everybody! Go crazy with your Nightstalkers Bracelets! It will be active for sure!" Zhang Qin Feng yelled. Even he found it unbelievable that he could shout so loud.
His voice was so clear that the crews from afar could hear what he had just said.
"Nightstalkers! The Boss ordered us to use the Nightstalker weaponry!"
"Quickly follow the Boss' order! Pull your trigger and target the incoming zombies!" all the crews that heard Zhang Qin Feng quickly abandon their firearm and raise their wrist at the zombies. The sound of the trigger getting pulled can be heard almost everywhere.
But nothing happened.
The signal interference seems still strong as there is no response from the Nightstalker Bracelet hanging around their wrist.
At this instant, their hope was being crushed slowly.
Until…
The power station shook again. And this time, the flickering was more than before. This allowed all the electronic devices in their hand to regain their activities once again.
"B-Brace! Brace! The weapon is activated!" shouted one of Zhang Qin Feng's engineering crew.
In that instant, the battlefield is blinded by laser beams firing everywhere.
