Chapter 119:
We kindly ask for your understanding regarding the inconsistency of character pronouns, particularly for the Entities (ex. The Greedy Predator). In Korean, pronouns are rarely used, making it challenging to ascertain a character's gender or identity until later narratives unfold. Seora contemplated the sins that imprisoned Monique Ribery, the Healer at the core of this raid team. Pride seemed fitting, but Julian was an even better match. Considering Garcia’s desire for revenge after being defeated by Julian and Ali, if not wrath, then his was surely envy.
That left sloth and gluttony.
Seora knew little about Monique and Ali. However, she was certain of one thing: Ali was far from lazy. The Entity of Captain Ali Russo was the war goddess Athena of Greece, who was associated with justice and protection. How could someone who led a global mercenary group and personified those ideals be lazy? Yun Jaeheon, the branch manager for Asia, had little time to spare in Korea due to the group’s busy international operations.
Thus, it became evident that Monique Ribery was trapped in the sin of sloth. While everyone else focused on gluttony, Seora’s attention was solely on sloth.
Gazing at the gleaming deep blue crown before her, Seora smirked. “They say, ‘If you want to deceive your enemies perfectly, start by deceiving your allies.’ It’s not without reason.”
Clutching the crown tightly, Seora fired her gun. Bang! The crown shattered into dust, accompanied by the sound of breaking glass.
<Kiaaaaagh!>
【The crown of ‘Sloth’ has been destroyed. Awakened ‘Monique Ribery’ has been freed from ‘Path of Sin’.】
Moreover, she was no longer alone; she didn’t need to shoulder all the responsibility.
“Seong Jarim! Destroy it!”
Seong Jarim’s scythe radiated a fiery golden light as the immense power of the one who had led a planet to destruction descended upon the dragon’s head. Scales split open, and blood spurted out in a gory display.
<You damn bastard! How dare you!>
【Activating skill ‘Spear of the Slaughterer’!】
【Drain the health of the enemy. Restores 50% of allies’ health.】
A surge of vitality coursed through the fatigued bodies of the Hunters, revitalizing them. Seong Jarim, fueled by even greater mana, unleashed another attack at the partially severed neck.
Splat, thud! The head, its eyes wide open, plummeted downward, accompanied by a crimson liquid resembling lava.
【The head of ‘Glutonny’ has been destroyed. Awakened ‘Ali Russo’ has been freed from ‘Path of Sin’.】
Upon witnessing the message that appeared alongside the falling head, Seora beamed with satisfaction. Everything had unfolded exactly as she had anticipated.
<You filthy vermins!>
Seora encapsulated the severed head within a cube and reached out to grab Seong Jarim’s hand as they descended. The dragon’s tail, capable of toppling stars from the sky, swooped toward them. However, they remained unfazed. They had witnessed that attack pattern far too many times.
“A clash between spear and shield. I wonder which side will prevail.”
Seora stuck out her tongue and swiftly swung the decapitated head, using it to block the incoming tail. A fierce crackling sound accompanied by a tingling shock passed through.
<Kiyaaaah! Aaaaah!>
“Oh, so it’s a draw?”
Both the already lifeless head and tail were now more than halfway crushed. Seora easily evaded the attacks, chuckling as she reached her hand toward the sky.
“Yun Seora!”
Like the main protagonist, Kang Sejun appeared and grabbed hold of Seora’s and Seong Jarim’s hands in the nick of time, ensuring a safe landing for all three of them.
“What were you thinking, doing something so dangerous!?”
Seora plugged her ears with her fingers, shielding herself from the barrage of nagging. “Well, thanks to that, we managed to free two people at once. But I refrained from severing the head because it seemed like I might actually die.”
“That’s your explanation!?”
“Were you worried about me getting hurt? Aww, how sweet. Don’t worry, I’m fine. Got it?” Seora reassured Kang Sejun, patting his back. His face turned red from being consoled like a child.
“You! That! You… I… Really, I…” Kang Sejun stumbled over his words, clearly taken aback. Thankfully, it seemed that the scolding would end here.
Nonchalantly stepping away from Kang Sejun, Seora hurried toward Monique and Ali, who gradually awakened inside the cube under Elizabeth’s guard.
Meanwhile, Seong Jarim burst into laughter and playfully patted Kang Sejun’s back.
Kang Sejun, feeling belated embarrassment, buried his reddened face in his hands. He was truly losing it. Just like when Seora leaned on his shoulder, his heart raced uncontrollably again.
“Are you awake? Do you feel any discomfort?” Seora greeted Monique and Ali with a smile, oblivious to Kang Sejun’s inner turmoil. Fortunately, both of them seemed slightly annoyed but in relatively good condition.
“What’s this? Have you already awakened?” Ali glanced at Seora, then looked behind her at Kang Sejun, Seong Jarim, and Oliver.
“Mr. Oliver and I didn’t fall victim. Oliver has a contract with an angel, and my Entity protected me.”
“You really managed to find an escape route. Oh, I’m dying. Ha… It was a delightful nightmare. So much delicious food…”
A gloomy atmosphere seemed to hang over Ali’s complaining face. It seemed she was upset about being pulled out before she could fully indulge in her gluttonous desires. Wait, while the returnee and regressor had nightmares, this person happily reveled in gluttony?
‘Could it be that the purpose is to keep them trapped in the dream?’
If that were the case, then perhaps within the realm of lust… Although she had no desire to experience it herself, Seora couldn’t deny a slight curiosity.
“Julian and Garcia haven’t awakened yet. Monique, please quickly restore Oliver. It will be disadvantageous for us once the army of angels retreats.”
“The army of angels? What… Oh!” Monique, still not fully regaining her senses, whether due to her indulgence or laziness in the nightmare, gulped as she looked toward the distant battlefield. Ali, too, was lost in thought.
“What on earth is that?”
“It’s a battle between angels and the dragon… You’ve summoned a myth.”
“That’s Oliver’s skill. However, it’s summoned through mana, so it will disappear when his power runs out. He can at least take down one head if he can recover his mana. Please help him quickly.”
Realizing the gravity of the matter, Monique quickly slapped her own cheek, snapping herself back to full alertness. She immediately rushed toward Oliver. Her exceptional mental fortitude, perhaps due to her being a Healer, shone through.
Ali assessed Seora’s condition, concerned about her battered appearance and the stains on her body, evidence of the intense battle. “If your brother sees you like this, he’ll faint.”
Yun Jaeheon, who would be praying for her safe return by now. Seora shrugged. “He would be proud. His sister is talented, cool, and strong.”
Ali burst into laughter at Seora’s nonchalant remark. However, the warmth in her eyes as she looked at Seora mirrored the way she gazed at Jaeheon. Ali vowed never to forget the debt of gratitude for Seora saving her life.
“Athena, the goddess of wisdom, has a poor compatibility with snakes. Please join us as soon as possible, Captain. Archangel Michael is currently dealing with the head of pride, so once we break the crown of envy, Garcia will awaken too.”
“It’s not like we need them. Just toss them away.”
While Seora understood the sentiment, she couldn’t bring herself to agree and instead cleared her throat in vain.
<Kyaaaaaaagh!>
In that moment, the Dragon of Revelation let out a thunderous cry, and the sky ignited with a blazing fire that seemed poised to consume everything in its path. As Monique restored Oliver’s mana, Michael swiftly severed the red head.
Now, only four heads remained. Once Garcia awakened, they would possess enough power to defeat the dragon, even if the army of angels retreated.
‘I need to join the battle too.’
Seora couldn’t afford to stay idle if she wanted her name to be etched as a top contributor. Just as she was about to pick up her gun and rejoin the fray…
“Where do you think you’re going in that condition?” Monique’s sudden return caught Seora off guard as the Healer firmly grasped her shoulder. A tremendous surge of mana coursed through Seora upon contact, instantly restoring her health and mana. She widened her eyes in surprise.
“Wow, Miss Monique, your healing is incredible.”
“You think I’m an L-class Healer for no reason?”
“Did you mean to say ‘Zombie Nique’?”
“Shut up, Ali. And thanks, Headbang. You’ve given me the opportunity for revenge.” Monique’s expression of gratitude had its own unique flair. Seora nodded in acknowledgment. “Now that I’m joining the battle, don’t worry and give it your all. Any wounds? I’ll take care of them. If anyone is within my reach, I guarantee they won’t die.”
‘Wow, that’s so cool.’
Seora’s heart involuntarily raced at Monique’s cocky stance.
“Then I’ll leave it to you.”
“Sure. Trust me and go for it.”
With Garcia being someone who anyone could rescue, Seora decided to focus her attention solely on the green-headed one. She was determined to give that wicked head, who had the audacity to accuse her of succumbing to lust, a stern scolding.
<You bastard! If it weren’t for you!>
The dragon, now half-mad from losing nearly half of its heads, caught sight of Seora charging toward t.
Once again, the tail swung toward her. It remained a formidable threat despite being battered and torn from the previous collision with the dragon’s head. However, this time there was no head to act as a shield.
“Yun Seora! You’re out of your mind!” Kang Sejun, who had been hurling fire spears at the dragon’s neck from above, anxiously shouted.
“Hey, don’t worry. Just focus on the enemy in front of you. I’ll protect the rear as the team’s Healer.”
A chain with shining white metal materialized, intercepting the tail. Multiple chains with attached blades sprouted from Monique’s body.
【Activating skill ‘Brilliant Glory’.】
The glorious chains soared through the air, tightly entwining around the thrashing tail of the dragon.
<You think you can stop me with just that…!?>
“Let me point out one thing. These chains are infused with my mana, so even touching them will heal your wounds and restore your vitality.”
Monique effortlessly silenced the dragon’s exclamation. As she had stated, the tail, which had been hanging limply like a rag, now rapidly regenerated.
‘What are you doing?’
Seora, barely able to process what had just transpired, was left dumbfounded. Yet, Monique’s words didn’t cease there.
“But what if the wounds continue to heal even after they’ve been restored? What if we forcibly amplify the regenerative power of the cells?”
<Argh, ugh! You! What are you doing…!>
The tail, which had been instantaneously healed, suddenly began to tremble and rot. The dragon writhed in agonizing pain, but the chains firmly held onto the decaying appendage.
“Granting an excessively heightened regenerative power will ultimately lead to its own destruction. Excessive healing is not a boon.”
<Guaaaaaahh!>
With a forceful swing of the chains, Monique abruptly tore off the tail. The dragon thrashed even more violently than when its head had been severed.
It was to be expected. While each head acted as an individual, the tail was shared among them all. The remaining four heads bore the brunt of the damage.
“Wow, that’s…terrifying,” Seora trembled as she witnessed the tail disintegrating from decay.
Unbelievable. Inflicting cellular necrosis through healing in a continuous manner. What kind of fearsome Healer was Monique? Seora had encountered several Healers during her time as a government official, but she had never witnessed anyone capable of such a phenomenon before.
