Ch-47
Hearing Usopp’s words and noticing the direction of his gaze Nami soon formed the link between them. She tried moving her limbs only to find a puff of mist that was connected to her move in the desired direction. All of this felt quite frightening to her as the thought of never going back to her human form entered her mind.
Observing the worry that was on her face Usopp understood Nami’s worries and he explained, “Don’t worry, you’ll be easily able to retort back to your human form when you will yourself to. Try doing it.”
Hearing Usopp’s words Nami inwardly took a sigh of relief as he concentrated her entire being to go back to her original self. It didn’t happen immediately and took over ten seconds to even initiate.
Just when Nami was starting to doubt Usopp’s words she felt her whole body start changing its shape and retorting back to her original human self. She observed herself carefully and to her delight nothing seemed to be any different from normal.
While Nami was carefully eyeing herself Usopp started his explanation, “The fruit which you have eaten is a Logia type and this type of devil fruit is one of the rarest and the strongest that are there. Its ability is quite useful in ensuring that one is not harmed by normal means….”
Nami carefully took in all of Usopp’s words and the more she listened the more delighted and regrettable she became. When Usopp was finally finished with his explanation she couldn’t help but ask, “If you had eaten this fruit then you would have become much stronger than me…”
“Stop with that. I’m even more delighted that such a strong ability was given to you. Now that I think about it. With your wits, you would be able to use this fruit in various ingenious ways. It feels like it was heaven’s choice to give this fruit to you,” Usopp said.
Soon after Usopp laid back on the log on which they were currently sitting while at Usopp’s suggestion, Nami started to familiarize herself with her new powers.
Seeing Nami diligently working on her skills Usopp had a satisfied smile on her face as he closed his eyes to rest for a while. Unfortunately for him, his peace didn’t last long as Brogy soon returned with his fresh catch.
Upon seeing Brogy this time Nami apologized to him for earlier behaviour to which he just laughed and said not to worry about it. The meat was soon placed over the fire as the aromatic smell from the meat spread to the surroundings.
Soon everyone had a jug of rum in their hand except for Brogy who had to do with a barrel itself. Needless to say, with the opening of the rum the atmosphere became more and more jovial as Brogy started telling all the stories which he had piled up over several decades.
Each of the stories described by him was filled with adventure and excitement and both Usopp and Nami were enjoying each and every second of it.
Meanwhile, in the other part of the forest, Vivi had long lost the trace of Luffy and Karoo and couldn’t help but grow a bit worried as she was now alone in this unknown environment. Taking a deep breath, she calmed herself as she took out her weapon and she cautiously started moving towards a particular direction.
It was only after walking continuously in the deep jungle for an hour and a half that Vivi finally realised that she had circled back to her earlier position. She saw a footprint that looked similar to herself right in front of her path which ultimately made her realize this fact.
Realizing this Vivi couldn’t help but grow more and more worried. Realizing that she had circled back to the same position Vivi lost her confidence in her ability to navigate out of the forest but still gritting her teeth she decided to carry on this time leaving signs wherever she went.
Another half an hour passed and by now Vivi’s exposed skin was all bruised up thanks to her trying to find her way through a thick wall of bushes in her attempt to hide from a Triceratop roaming around not far away from her. All her struggles were not without reward as not long after she soon heard the sound of water flowing.
Elated she rushed towards the sound of water and the river that was flowing inland soon entered her eyes. This was the same river that they had earlier been on which made Vivi finally relaxed. She just needed to keep walking at the edge of the river and she’d be able to see Going Merry not long after.
With a sigh of relief, Vivi began her journey but not long after her stomach started grumbling. It was understandable since she had been exerting herself both physically and mentally for more than two hours in this forest.
With the feeling of hunger setting in, Vivi started observing her surroundings for something to it. She had come upon a lot of fruits in the forest but since she wasn’t hungry, she didn’t pick them up. It was only when she realized how bad her decision was.
With the thought of hunger constantly popping up in her mind Vivi walked along the river’s edge. It looked like the lady’s luck was on her side as after walking for another twenty minutes she found a tree which had fruits hanging from it not very far from her.
When she saw a squirrel grabbing onto a fallen fruit and running away with it in an excited manner. Seeing this Vivi became sure that the fruit was edible and plucked it from the tree. The fruit had a shape similar to a guava the only thing different about it was that it was red in colour instead of green.
After wiping the fruit on her top Vivi took a bite of it and said in an impressed manner, “Mhmm, this is quite juicy and delicious.”
