Chapter 240 - The Ultimate Honor
Ban summoned Tria who has now rested enough from the Beast Tattoo. Tria seemed to be happy being called by Ban again as she immediately flew towards Ban's head and landed there comfortably.
Unfortunately, she was only able to land there for a few seconds before Ban ordered her to transform into her giant form. Although reluctant, Tria could only transform into her giant form before she allowed Ban to ride on her back, in which she also enjoyed.
Flying was the natural characteristic of Giant Red Dragonfly Beasts, as one of such Beasts, Tria also naturally has these characteristics as well. However, contrary to her wild counterparts, Tria also enjoyed being ridden by Ban while the wild Giant Red Dragonflies obviously despised such actions.
For them, their flying capability should only be enjoyed by their race alone and no one else.
Tria however didn't know such a thing. She was only an egg when Ban got it from the System, and it was still even questionable where the System got it as well as the other items he received from it. Though, Ban just attributed it to the fact the System's method was beyond his comprehension so he just accepted what it rewarded him.
For Tria, Ban riding on her back was the ultimate honor and best accomplishment she could get, aside from perching on his head of course.
After she transformed, Ban immediately mounted on her back. He then ordered her to fly towards the nest of the Scale Snake earlier.
Yes, he planned to kill the remaining Scale Snake who arrived earlier. Ban thought it would be quite a waste to let it be. He needs 50 Elite Grade or Lord Grade Beasts so the more he could get, the better. He also thought about those Elite Grade Mild Tempered Crocodiles and was also planning to go back and kill them.
However, there were more than a dozen crocodiles there so killing them would be a problem. Of course, he doesn't plan to face them head on. He already has a plan.
Tria traveled with extreme speed this time. Both of them arrived at the Scale Snake's nest before the three minute mark.
When they were already at the area near the nest, Ban allowed Tria to travel slowly so that he could observe the surroundings clearly.
He knew that the partner of the Scale Snake earlier had already returned after he escaped. He knew that it was just hiding around here. He was aware of their attitude so he was sure that it won't leave here just like that. It might be hoping that the perpetrator will return, so it would surely lay in ambush in advance.
Although it wasn't smart, it was still an Elite Grade Beast after all. It was only natural that it would think that way.
Tria lowered their altitude as per Ban's instruction. They circled the area around the nest a few times before he ordered her to land atop a huge tree. Ban thought and was confused for a moment. The Scale Snake was nowhere to be found.
'The System and the Book of Techniques can't be wrong about the Scale Snake's attitude…'
He pondered about it over and over again when he recalled where the Scale Snake had hidden earlier.
'That's right, the nest itself… I haven't checked the nest thoroughly yet, it might be hiding underneath the nest!'
Upon realizing that, Ban immediately ordered Tria to fly above the now empty nest. Tria did not produce any 'buzz' sound this time as Ban ordered her to. The 'buzz' sound would only be produced if Tria exerts all of her strength to rapidly flap her two pairs of wings to go at full speed or if she wanted to.
Ban was also worried that the vibration caused by the 'buzz' sound might alert the Scale Snake so he ordered Tria to be as quiet as possible.
Ban observed the now empty nest carefully, especially the water beneath it. Tria circled for a few times slowly while Ban kept on searching for the Scale Snake.
The water was muddy and unclear so it was very hard for Ban to see through what's beneath the surface of the water. He already observed the surface of the water and unlike earlier where he could see the snout of the Scale Snake, he could not see anything this time aside from some floating dried leaves and grasses.
Ban was already sure that the Scale Snake was truly beneath the nest. It was because the nest itself had already been partly destroyed, and there was a clear gaping hole at the side of the nest. He guessed that it was caused by the Scale Snake when it dived down the water.
He didn't know how deep the muddy water was. So instead of lowering their altitude even more to see beneath the surface and have the risk of being exposed to the snake's range of attack, he decided to retreat towards a tree not far away instead.
Before he retreated, he first ordered Tria to fly past the empty nest while making the 'buzz' sound this time.
The Scale Snake's don't have the capability to breathe underwater. Although they can hold their breath for at most an hour, Ban knew that it would not be able to hold that long this time, at least. It's patient won't.
Ban purposely tried to alert it by using Tria's 'buzz' sound, if it was truly underneath, it won't be able to hold it's curiosity that much as it would surely surface above to see what was going on above it.
After brushing by the nest slightly, Tria landed on a branch not far away from the nest, just far enough for Ban to see the situation at the nest without being discovered.
He gave it five minute at most, if it won't surface, then it probably wasn't there to begin with. He could only forget about it by then, and just proceed to their next target location. It would be quite a waste but he also won't waste his time searching for it.
And just like what Ban had guessed, the Scale Snake was truly beneath the nest. Forget about five minutes, even before two minutes managed to pass, it's head had already popped out of the water slowly.
Seeing the cautious attitude of the Scale Snake, Ban only smiled delightfully.
