6 – Admission Test

Academy Admission Test.

If you were to pick the most important event for academy staff, it would be the entrance exam.

The Academy does not officially discriminate on the status of applicants. This isn’t just words.

Parents, family, property, and status do not have the slightest impact on whether or not to join the academy. This was the pride of the academy, and the reason why many commoners considered the academy as the only way to rise in status.

There is only one factor that the academy considers when selecting freshmen. It’s a skill

Of course, most of the students who entered the academy came from aristocrats or wealthy commoners from the upper class. In the first place, even skills are determined by the input of tangible and intangible assets that parents and families have. The reality of the pleasant façade of commoners’ dreams was a microcosm of high society, which was mostly eaten by the children of wealthy families.

Even if there was such a reality, the fact that the academy was almost the only window for class movement commoners could aim for did not change. That is why commoners who knew better than anyone that the wall of reality was high were constantly knocking on the door of the academy.

As the academy faculty and staff know that fact well, they couldn’t prepare for the entrance exam roughly.

In order to determine talent as fairly as possible, as strictly as possible, and as accurately as possible, the entrance exam has a preparation period of at least two months.

“By the way, I mean. Don’t you think that’s very strange?”

If you personify a sword, would you feel that way?

The black-haired beauty, spiky like her living thorns and dripping with sharp energy, opened her mouth with an annoyed tone full of dissatisfaction. The destination of her question was another woman wearing a black blindfold.

“What do you mean?”

The questioned woman tilted her head. She took the sharp and sharp momentum that would make a weak person pass out just by facing her, while the soft-looking woman wearing a blindfold took it for granted.

“The schedule. The schedule for this year is completely strange. An entrance exam a week before the entrance ceremony? Doing the complicated administrative process of calculating and notifying test results in a week. Ask for retirement in a different way.”

Flora Chepes, a black-haired woman known by the nickname of ‘The Maiden of Thorns’, spoke bluntly to her close friend, Biblio Organ, the head of the Department of Magic, who is in charge of all academic schedules at the academy.

“It is force majeure. It is not me who decides the academic schedule. It is heaven.”

Biblio answered as he touched the purple crystal ball placed in front of him.

“Oh my God. To decide the academic schedule through astrology. The academy is also in trouble. When you said you were going to be the head of the department, you should have wrapped your headband and opposed it.”

“It is common to hear that vampires are unscientific, but Flora, an academy professor, shouldn’t be like that. Flora. I don’t know how many times I say this, but astrology is a science.”

Despite Biblio’s nagging, Flora couldn’t control the rebellious spirit that was poking her head out from deep within her heart. It was so funny whenever I saw a b*tch who couldn’t see right in front of her nose, saying that she could see the future after holding a crystal ball a few times.

Despite being an old friend of her own, Flora has always been a stranger to her Biblio Organ. Especially when she talks about astrology.

“No matter what you say, I don’t believe it.”

“Whoops. If you don’t trust me, believe in my character.”

「Shiny Guide」

That was the characteristic of the Biblio organ. That ability, she says, is about precognition of the future.

“Then, try to foresee what will happen today with that great astrology. What will happen in the entrance exam? If I can get all the chiefs right, I’ll reconsider my prejudices about astrology.”

“Astrology is not the power to see such a microscopic future. All the movement of the stars shows me is a large stream of water.”

“In the end, I can’t do it. Hey, be honest. Are you cheating? Just tell me My mouth is very heavy.”

“I think Flora needs to practice provoking more. And I think I need more practice not to fall for Flora’s cheap provocations.”

After saying that, Biblio gently stroked the purple crystal ball placed in front of him. It was an action to see the future of today as Flora said.

“Huh?”

A strange tone of question came out of Biblio’s mouth. At that, Flora tilted her head and asked, ‘What do you see?’

“This is the first time I’ve ever had anything like this. A star that shines so brightly.”

Biblio’s hand that was stroking the crystal ball stopped. He raised his head towards Flora and opened his mouth.

“Flora. Perhaps, I will meet a very interesting student.”

“What is that? I can make such trivial predictions. Be a little more specific.”

“The future is not specific. There is no such thing as a fixed future in this world.”

“Don’t keep saying things without meaning. What kind of student am I dating?”

“Give me a few keywords…. Shadows, blondes, buns, and… It’s a kiss.”

Biblio’s puzzling answer made Flora even more suspicious.

Shadows, blondes, buns, and kisses?

The first three are also confusing, but I don’t know what the last kiss is. Are you saying you’re trying to escape an old maid against a student?

In that case, it must be a really bad prophecy.

However, Flora had no time to ask further questions. Now it’s time for the exam to begin.

“Sheesh. I’m going to take a test Just try to get your prediction wrong.”

Looking at Flora’s back with a grunt, Biblio smiled silently. He now said that his own prophecy was clearer than any other prophecy.

‘I think this year will be particularly fun.’

Academy Central Square.

The waiting area for the entrance examination was the central plaza with a beautiful fountain. In front of the plaza, I could see the academy building with a balcony. It is a delicate stone building modeled after the Rococo style of Europe in the 18th century.

There were a lot of people waiting for the test in the plaza. The ratio between nobles and commoners seemed to be about 5:5. Just by looking at their clothes, nobles and commoners could be roughly distinguished. Naturally, nobles and commoners were united in the same group.

“There are so many commoners. I have to throw away the clothes I wore today. I liked it.”

“Stupid bastards. Don’t you know that it’s like wasting money?”

“If you knew that, would you live such a miserable life? We have to be patient Originally, the things you didn’t learn are stupid.”

This is the sound coming from a group of nobles.

“To think I had to see those unlucky bastards from here.”

“Hey, is it okay if I don’t watch my mouth like that?”

“In the academy, there is no difference in status. If you twist, come and fight.”

This is the sound from a group of commoners.

In general, it seemed that the aristocrats had the upper hand in the fight, but the commoners were not suffering either.

The atmosphere seems like a gang fight would break out if something went wrong. In fact, to prevent that, academy professors were placed around them.

“John. There are more people than you think.”

Sierra grabbed me by the sleeve and said that. Sierra and I were naturally mixed in the crowd of commoners.

“If I can’t do it, there will be thousands of people. Only 100 people pass the double pass. The competition ratio is about 10 to 1.”

“Ugh…. Can we get into it?”

Sierra asked in a worried voice. To be honest, I have no worries at all.

“Sierra is enough. What we are concerned about is the ranking, not the pass or not.”

What I’m aiming for right now is, of course, the head of the academy. If it were me, it was possible enough to get there. It’s not because of skill. Because of the information.

‘There could be a character stronger than me. But, I have information about the entrance exam.’

There is no need to explain how big the gap is created by the asymmetry of information. In particular, in the ‘exam’, information can be said to be skill.

The commotion slowly subsided. It’s because of a woman who appeared on the balcony.

‘As expected, things are going according to the game.’

The Maiden of Thorns, Flora Tepesh.

She was the one in charge of this test.

“Is that Flora Chepes, the head of the swordsmanship department?”

“I heard it was a vampire harp….”

“Do vampires use swordsmanship? Something doesn’t fit.”

“Be careful with your words. One of the only three sword masters in the royal capital.”

“Really? One is the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Knights, and who is the other?”

“That is..”

“Quiet!”

Flora’s lion’s roar swept around. Her body jiggled as her voice reached her body. It sounded like a huge loudspeaker, like something you would use in a club. With that word, she silenced her audience.

When all around her was completely silent, Flora spoke again.

“Nice to meet you. I am Flora Chepes. She is the head of the academy’s swordsmanship department. If you enter the academy, you will see my face often, even if you don’t want to see it. Especially in the swordsmanship field.”

Flora glanced around her with a sharp gaze. Seeing her like that, the students gulped at her saliva and became nervous. Sierra next to me also did not hide her nervous expression.

“I don’t like wasting time. The test start time is exactly 9 o’clock. 1 Minute and 12 seconds later. I’ll start explaining right away.”

Perfect!

Flora snapped her fingers. Then three appeared in front of our eyes on a huge door. Each door was a different color.

The left side is red, the middle is blue, and the right is yellow.

“Three doors lead to different dungeons. It’s a dungeon that tests your strength and wisdom. You must choose one of them and bring the medallion. If you hunt the monsters in the dungeon, you will be able to get medals.”

Flora paused and looked around her audience again. She continued her words with a feeble smile, wondering if this heavy atmosphere was to her liking.

“By the way, stealing or taking other students’ medals is not permitted. If you want to cheat, write. You will pay the price for that.”

There’s no great man here who could cheat after hearing such a thing.

“If you receive more than a certain amount of damage inside the dungeon, you are automatically exited, so you don’t have to worry about getting seriously hurt. If you’re scared, give up here.”

Despite Flora’s words, no one turned her steps. No one came here without that much determination.

“Okay. Grizzly isn’t bad. You cannot pass the academy with grit alone, though.”

Kiki!

Three doors opened simultaneously. It is the beginning of the test.

“The time given is 3 hours. The test is about to begin!”

The test has begun. The students in the front row started entering the door. He usually chose the door closest to him.

“John. Where will John go?”

Sierra asked. My answer is fixed.

“In the middle.”

“Then, me too.”

Sierra said without a second’s hesitation.

There are two main reasons why I chose the middle.

One is that the most comfortable place in ‘Dando Run’ is in the middle. In other words, the middle dungeon is the easiest dungeon to attack with the Dagger of Ghosts.

And the other….

‘The reason is that it’s easy to aim for a high score.’

Chief of the whole academy.

You have to enter the middle door to aim for it. From the time I got the Dagger of Ghosts, this choice was predestined.

As I headed toward the middle door, a female student with blazing red hair entered my eyes.

‘Sarah Leoris.’

Sarah Leoris, one of the strong characters at the beginning of the Legend Route.

She, like me, chose the middle door.
