Chapter 47
47 – Emotion
I rode a wagon.
The Academy is located in District 3 of the Royal Road. District 3 is an affluent village that even moderate aristocrats cannot recklessly set foot in. The academy, which has an incredibly wide campus in that wealthy village, is literally rich in land.
The wagon caught by Arsha runs through the royal road. Arsha, who was admiring the scenery through her window, spoke to her as if passing by.
“Is your hand okay?”
“It’s all right. It seems to be getting better.”
“I’m glad.”
Arsha buried herself deeply in the carriage chair.
I had a rough idea of where she was going, but she’d better ask. The atmosphere was strangely awkward, so the conversation couldn’t continue.
“Where are we going?”
“15 Phrases.”
There are 15 boundaries separating dangerous and non-dangerous areas in the capital. If you go beyond the 15th district, you will walk on the street, but it is a crime zone to be very careful. Simple crimes like pickpocketing are commonplace, and life can be endangered if you are mistakenly caught by a highwayman.
The royal capital regularly checks security, but it is said that such problems occur frequently because it is far from controlling all the outcasts living in the vast land.
Personally, it’s a bit strange that this world’s technology doesn’t have that level of security control. Well, there is a huge Harlem area around New York, so I don’t know if it’s an overly unrealistic story.
“Don’t worry too much. District 15 is not that dangerous though.”
I have been to the 19th ward where there is a shadow town. Is there anything to worry about in the 15th district?
From noble mtl dot com
“Is the appraiser there? I know that a skilled appraiser sets up a shop in her wealthy village.”
“Not necessarily. There is also a sector dealing with stolen goods in this market. It’s hard for an appraiser like that to do business in a place with tight security.”
Dalgrak! Dalgrak!
The carriage stopped. Arsha and I got off the carriage.
The scenery of District 15 was vastly different from that of District 3, where the whole street was splattered. The surrounding buildings are conspicuously shabby and the atmosphere of the street is hideous. Of course, it’s much better than the 19th district I visited last time.
“Follow me.”
Arsha took her steps with great vigour. As if she knew the geography of the area well, she made her way through the winding alleys coolly.
The place she took me was a shabby store. There are so many shabby shops around, it’s hard to tell them apart.
With my daughter! With my daughter!
As I opened the door and entered the store, a small bell rang. Dusty antiques are piled up at the entrance of the store. Some looked quite old-fashioned and looked like they would make money, while others seemed to be thrown away as trash.
The interior of the wood-based, rugged interior was filled with shelves. It is a shelf full of various antiques.
Arsha walked into such a store. Every time she walks on the floor, a squeaking sound echoes through the store. The man who had been dozing with his head on the counter opened his eyes at the sound that broke the silence.
“Zzz…. Sniff… !”
The man who rubbed his eyes while wiping the drool on his cheek had a body completely different from that of an ordinary human. His height is short as a shorty, and his body is as tall as a mountain. This is the typical appearance of a dwarf that people often think of.
“Hmm… ! Sword Horn Lady. It’s been a while.”
“Inspired by Tolu. It’s dirty every time I come here. Aren’t you going to clean the store?”
“hahahaha. It’s all sorted out. Anyway, it’s something that will go away soon.”
“Hey, I think I saw that stone mask 10 years ago….”
“Because not many people know the value of this item. It is a stone mask that can be awakened as a perfect creature by awakening its true power. Only 10 silver! It’s on sale at a bargain price, how about the young lady?”
“That’s just a legend. It’s just an out-of-style ornament.”
“hahahaha. It is. However, when the legends embedded in an object are piled up, it gives value.
Dwarves Tolu and Arsha had a friendly conversation as if they had known each other for a long time. In fact, the relationship between the two was very long. Tolu was the one who made the sword that Arsha is using now.
“By the way, what’s going on with my shop? By any chance, is your sword broken? It’s been a while since I put the hammer down, but if it’s the lady’s request, I can’t help but do it.”
“No. I’m here to ask for an item appraisal. Old Man Tolu is well versed in this kind of thing.”
“It’s just a humble talent. I don’t have the ‘talent’ like a young lady. It’s just that I’ve lived a little longer than the lady and have more experience.”
“I know.”
“Que… ! Still, the immediate answer is too much.”
Tolu turned his eyes towards me while having a friendly conversation with Arsha.
“By the way, who is this wonderful boy? Have you finally met your mate? This Tolu, is impressive. I thought the young lady would marry the sword and remain single forever, but sooner than I thought…”
“Come on, pair! Don’t be mistaken! Just, academy classmates!”
Arsha shook her head in denial at Tolu’s spiteful words. However, Tolu’s questioning did not end there.
“There is no need to bring academy classmates here…. No matter how much I think about it, it doesn’t seem like it. Were you on a date?”
“Inspiration! I think I’m getting old and I’m getting dementia! Appraise my items!”
Bang!
Arsha roughly placed her pendant on the counter. Tolu laughed heartily and teased Arsha again, saying, ‘That young master, you are going through a hard time.’
“John! Ignore the words of old Tolu. Because it was like that from the beginning. I really want it.”
“Heh heh. By the way, the current head of the household was just like the Sword Horn lady. She seemed like a woman who wouldn’t even think about women, but one day she suddenly brought her a mistress. That Tolu, I almost thought it might have been a kidnapping.”
When the story of her parents came up, the air of her excited Arsha cooled off. Perhaps noticing the change, Tolu muttered in a low voice, ‘The old man misunderstood this,’ and turned his gaze toward the pendant.
“Hmmm! Anyway, I’ll evaluate it. First, I will bring the equipment.”
After saying that, Tolu went down to the basement. He went to get the item meter.
“Oh, after all, dwarves talk a lot.”
Arsha with her arms folded grunted and muttered that. Tolu soon returned. In his hand was a small microwave-sized item. If it’s not a stone-like surface, you’d mistake it for a microwave oven. Arsha shifted her gaze to the gadget Tolu had brought, her eyes twinkling like a child discovering her toy.
“Item meter. Shall I bring one too?”
“As I said before, measuring instruments cannot be used by just anyone. Performance depends on the ‘Emotion’ skill. If you’re going to get an instrument, you’d better get one for your weapon. When it comes to weapon appraisal, the lady is more certain than Ischne.”
Tolu opened the instrument and put it inside. Then he injected mana and activated the instrument.
Wheein—!
Perhaps this status window appeared before Tolu’s eyes.
—
[A Knight’s Promise (Class B): A pendant containing the spirit of a knight as clear as glass and unshakable as steel. The rugged design shows the producer’s intention to include practicality rather than splendor. Slightly increases strength and mental strength when worn, and increases the amount of physical recovery in proportion to the amount of lost physical strength.
Strength +5 Spirit +5
Health recovery +1% per missing health]
—
“Ohh… !”
Tolu widens his eyes in admiration.
“It’s a B-grade item. The accessories are grade B, and the performance is outstanding! The head of the family gave me a big gift after a long time!”
“B.. Grade B?”
Arsha’s eyes widened like Tolu’s.
“Certainly, the effect was great, but a B grade?”
“Yes. Increases strength and mental strength by 5, and recovers 1% of stamina for each lost stamina. Items that increase spirit are rare. That alone is a great value. Additionally, health regeneration per lost health is an advantage in long-term play. That would be a great option for you, lady.”
As Tolu said, a knight’s promise contains all the essential abilities needed by a warrior. It is natural for Arsha to be surprised.
“No matter how cheaply you get it, it must have cost hundreds of gold. No, maybe one unit higher than that. These accessories are usually not for sale. The only place to get it is at the auction house.”
“I-I got this from a dungeon.”
“Dungeon!? Sounds like you’ve got a lot of luck. My acquaintances only bring a lot of magic stones when they go out to explore dungeons…. After all, it seems that heaven loved you.”
Arsha’s hands are shaking. He must have known about the value of the pendant, but it must have felt different to be directly confirmed like this.
I thought it was a luxury item worth millions of won, but after opening it, I found out that it had been discontinued for a long time, so it was like a luxury item worth hundreds of millions of won.
A knight’s promise is an item that wouldn’t be strange even if it was used by a householder level, so this analogy would not be wrong at all.
Arsha looks at me with eyes the size of a bell. ‘Can I take this?’ She seems to ask again and again.
“By the way, it’s a dungeon. Lady, have you already explored the dungeon? You’re still a freshman at the academy, but exploring dungeons? I don’t know how much more I can say amazing.”
“Eh. Coincidentally it happened Anyway, thanks for the emotions today. What is the price?”
“How can this Schonne get money from the lady? Just go.”
“No. Rumors that I received free appraisal would damage my reputation. You know the inspiration.”
Arsha forced him to hand her silver coin and left her shop.
“Haa…. It’s a B grade item. She vaguely thought that might be the case, but it was a really great thing. John, let me ask you again. Is it really okay if you give me this?”
“Of course. I already gave it to you, but taking it away makes me even uglier. Rather, there is one question I would like to ask you. Who is this Tolu?”
“Ah. He is old man Tolu, and he owes his father’s favor to our family for a long time. As you can see, dwarves. He even made me a weapon.”
Arsha said as she gently drew the sword from her waist.
“That person. Are you trustworthy?”
“Huh? What is that all of a sudden?”
“I have a pretty good intuition for seeing people. But something about him…. It’s a little bit reluctant.”
“Reluctance? What does that mean…”
Miss Arsha was speechless. She noticed her too. A lot of people flocking around us.
They all had menacing weapons in their hands.
