Chapter 43
43 – Thorn of a Rose
To put on an apron and cook a meal for someone.
Things that I could not have imagined before entering the academy are happening.
“I know you are blessed.”
Arsha grumbles out of embarrassment.
John looked at Arsha with a happy expression.
“To eat Miss Arsha’s homemade sandwiches. I feel really lucky.”
“I’ll tell you, this is my first time making food! So, even if it doesn’t taste good, don’t say anything! In the first place, you eat that weird toothpaste ice cream too!”
“I feel sorry for Arsha, who doesn’t know how cool Mint Choco is.”
The image of Arsha pouring out her rapid-fire cannon with her red-earned ears seemed to show the standard of a tsundere. The spirit of a sharp heroine she usually shows is nowhere to be found. John laughed out loud on purpose.
“I will eat well.”
Arsha’s Egg Sandwich.
John took a bite of a rare dish that no one had ever tasted before.
“Um….”
“Oh, how does it taste… ?”
Arsha looks at John with a nervous expression as if his lungs are full of air. In words, he told me not to care even if it was tasteless, but I thought it was not like that in my heart.
“Um….”
John opened his mouth with a quiet voice.
That expression is quite serious. It’s like a judge in a cooking contest. Arsha looked at Yohan with the hard face of a student right before her grades were announced.
“Ms. Arsha. What did you put inside?”
“That, I just crushed a plain hard-boiled egg and put it in. Season with some salt and pepper.”
“Is that really all there is?”
“Sah, actually, I added sugar instead of salt. But, since I added a lot of salt to neutralize it, isn’t it okay?”
Put a lot of salt to neutralize the sugar. In a startling judgment typical of Yorichi, Johann stuck out his tongue. Violent sweet and salty punches were raping the tongue.
“And you won’t have an appetite in the morning…. A little vinegar to mix in the sour taste…. Oh, I didn’t have vinegar, so I put white wine instead. If wine is fermented, it becomes vinegar, so wouldn’t it be similar?”
Arsha spoke her words cautiously with an uncharacteristically shy expression.
“We don’t even have wine in our kitchen. What did you put in it?”
“Wow, there was something that looked like a wine bottle…. Well, it doesn’t seem like eating and dying. You are still alive.”
“This is a terrifying statement…. Ms. Arsha, would you like to try this?”
“Me, me? Okay, try something!”
After hearing Yohan’s words, Arsha took a big bite of the homemade sandwich she made herself. The indescribable taste felt at that moment.
To put it bluntly, it felt like a riot was happening on my tongue.
“Guayet!”
If it wasn’t for the harshly learned manners of an aristocrat, he would have spit out the food in his mouth. Wouldn’t you believe it even if it was just taken out of the trash can?
“It tastes ridiculous. What is this!?”
“If you ask me about that….”
It’s amazing even if Arsha himself thinks about it.
The lobes of my ears, which were already red, are getting even more red. After all, it wasn’t like cooking something I had never done before.
“Keukkeuk. Ms. Arsha should do some cooking practice.”
Johann said that, looking at Arsha, who was ashamed of her face, which was as red as her ripe apple. And then she continues to eat the sandwich she was eating.
“Oh, don’t eat! Just throw it away! I’ll get you another one from storage. It’s because of you in the first place! They make me cook something I’ve never done before!”
“No. It was made by Ms. Arsha herself, so you can’t throw it away.”
John eats a sandwich with a determined expression.
Arsha once again felt her heart thump at John’s reply.
A crappy dish that cannot be called delicious even with empty words.
From noble mtl dot com
Even if you have a voracious appetite, it would be impossible for non-monks to calmly eat that. John, who was willing to eat such food, somehow felt pleased.
Bondi, cooks feel the greatest satisfaction when the people who eat them say that they are delicious. It wasn’t evaluated as delicious, but John’s willingness to eat food that he couldn’t eat was enough to impress Arsha.
Arsha jumped up from her seat. As she does, she extends her finger to John.
“My, I’m a bit clumsy right now, but I’ll make you a delicious breakfast in a week! You can look forward to it!”
It’s a vigorous declaration, like challenging a duel. Arsha swore to treat Yohan with the best breakfast ever.
“Huh? Are you proposing to me?”
In response to Yohan’s parasitic brother-like counterattack, Arsha recalled what she had said. If a third party hears it, it’s a declaration that could be misunderstood as a proposal.
“That’s not like that! Don’t think weird! This is, after all, my own appreciation for the item… ! Chet! I’ll be late for morning class! I wake up first!”
Arsha knocked on her table with a thump and she rose from her seat. Her back was like that of a doe as she turned to hide her shyness and ran like a gale. She guesses that the likability is over 40. She might be close to 50.
‘As you think….’
—
“Today’s class ends here!”
With the professor’s booming voice, music spreads around.
“Aww! It’s finally over!”
“I feel like dying!”
The Department of Swordsmanship, along with the Department of Magic, represents the academy. It has the largest number of students, the best facilities, and, of course, the largest budget allocated by the academy.
The quality of classes is said to be top-notch. In particular, when it comes to basic training, there is no place to follow in the royal road. It’s not for nothing that people say that it’s far better to complete the first year of the academy than to join a knight’s order and spend a few years as the youngest.
“Morning class is over.”
Arsha wiped the sweat from her forehead with a towel wrapped around her neck. Her academy fitness training was much harder than she thought. Of course, she is Arsha, who was already undergoing more intense training than this in her family. She is harder than expected, but the training is never difficult or unbearable.
‘Cooking practice. Let’s do a little bit from today.’
She thinks of John who ate the crappy sandwich she made. John asked if he was going to propose with a look that seemed to make fun of him.
I really want to hear from him that it’s delicious.
“Arsha Sword Horn.”
A soft voice calls to you. It’s a strange voice
A week after the semester started, I roughly memorized the voices of students in the same department. If the voice isn’t in your database, one of two things. It’s a different department, or a different grade.
Looking at the fact that he speaks casually in the first meeting, it was highly likely that it was the latter. Probably, it seems to be a considerable aristocratic family.
“Nice to meet you. My name is Colin Jauss. The Zaus family, have you heard of it?”
A blonde man wearing a white shirt introduced himself like that. It was typical of a gisaeng brother to wink at the first sight. He even has a rose in his mouth. It’s not a fake parasitic brother like John Baker, it’s ‘real’.
The Zaus family.
A noble family that is quite famous in the kingdom. It’s not a great aristocratic family, but it could be said to be at the bottom of it. It is a very famous family in terms of swordsmanship, and has a deeper history than the Swordhorn family, which has recently risen in fame.
“I have heard of your reputation. They say it’s as beautiful as a steel flower, but rumors say it’s medicinal. On the way here, there was a flower that resembled you, so I picked it.”
It was Zaus who said that and handed him a rose.
“Look at that. Senior Zaus in the third year.”
“That Freshman Killer?”
“Oh my God. Are there still people who make comments like that? I can’t believe it.”
“He was quite handsome, but his personality was a bit off.”
“Are you handsome? Is that?”
“Our eyes are too high because of John. That’s enough of a face to feed. If I was next to you, I would turn you into a squid.”
“You crazy bastard. It’s suddenly a fight!”
Colin Zauss was a famous man in many ways at the academy. His nickname is ‘freshman killer’.
Just like his nickname, he was notorious for belittling immature freshmen. In particular, freshmen from commoners with pretty faces are mainly targeted, but once they get stuck, they don’t mind extending their magic to aristocrats.
Zaus didn’t take the rose that Arsha gave him and even confronted him blindly, but he didn’t panic at all.
In the first place, the opponent was not a commoner, but an aristocrat. It is Arsha Swordhorn, one of the best rookies along with Sarah Leoris. She didn’t think that she could take one shot and pass it off from the beginning.
“The weather is nice today. How about a cup of tea? You’re not used to the academy yet, are you? I will guide you to school.”
Arsha ignored Jauss words and she turned her back and walked away from him. She is an Arsha who gives even a polite answer to a fair amount of opponents, but it was a waste of time for her to talk with such a lame person.
“Are you saying roses have thorns? It’s fun.”
In spite of Arsha’s reaction, Zaus did not panic and smiled. If the opponent comes out like that, I’m rather motivated.
Zaus, who blocked Arsha’s stride, blocked her with a great wall thump that could be described in her textbook.
“Don’t be so coy. I just want to talk for a minute.”
“Senior. Get out of the way If you don’t want to be in a bad mood.”
Arsha shot sharply. Using her honorifics was the utmost respect she could give her.
Zaus licked his lips with a greasy expression. As if it had led to this situation.
“You are a much more interesting junior. So, how do I do this? Duel with me If I win, I’ll take you on a date.”
“Why do I have to waste my time hanging out with my seniors?”
“If you win, I won’t act foolish in front of you again. How is it? Isn’t that bad?”
Arsha sighed. It seems that she will continue to bother me if I don’t show it to the extent that I can’t even lift my head.
To be caught by such a troublesome opponent.
It’s an unlucky day.
