A New Beginning

Volume 9 : EPILOGUE – REUNION

The clandestine espionage organization, operated by the Hart Kingdom and under the direct control of its founder, Alice Hart—also infamously known as The Nightshade.

The Nightshade, orchestrated covert operations spanning almost all countries on both the Human Continent and the Demon Continent. Renowned for their meticulous precision and information-gathering skills under the shroud of secrecy.

Led by Alice Hart, the first princess of Hart Kingdom whose strategic brilliance guided their every move.

The total number of its member and their identity remained unknown to even their own fellow members.

Currently, Cassa, the very first member and the current leader of the Nightshade, followed Alice's every command like a heartbeat, as she looked up to Alice as her savior.

Since entering service after training, all her missions have been related to collecting information from around the world.

To Cassa, it almost felt as though Alice had been searching for something valuable that she had lost within all the information she gathered. Something so important to her that she wouldn’t even spare a small amount of time for her own happiness.

But no matter what Cassa did she could not ask her master what it was she wanted so urgently. Slowly as time passed, Cassa realised her master was in search of a person.

Except for knowing she could be a girl. Surprisingly, they didn’t have a name, a portrait, or even a small trait of this person known to them. Simply, finding this person was impossible in this wide world.

But to Cassa, it never looked like Alice was about to give up anytime soon. As days and years went by, Alice grew up as one of the renowned princesses while upholding her lofty duties but she was always able to spare time for her investigation.

With the help of this secret spy organization, Alice was able to triumph in several difficult situations and protect her kingdom and family.

Cassa was always faithful and ready to put her life on the line to protect Alice no matter the cost. And that day when the demon army was right in front of them Cassa never left Alice’s side and followed her into the battlefield.

Hiding in the shadows she was ready to escape with Alice even against her wishes. Even if it meant Cassa had to sacrifice herself in the process.

But even before the war could start, a certain individual they had no clue or little information only equivalent to rumors floating around. The White Queen appeared all of a sudden and took to the skies.

And the next moment Cassa knew, the entire human army and members of Nightshade were gone from the battlefield.

Where did they go? Cassa had no way to know.

But somehow she and her master Alice Hart were the only people left on the big lonely battlefield.

Cassa was filled with the sole thought of escaping with Alice as if this was the only chance they would ever get.

Because once Cassa saw the true face of the White Queen and what she did to the demon army in a matter of minutes…

Everything unfolding before her eyes exceeded her imagination and surpassed even her wildest dreams.

The White Queen was a force, Cassa could never hope to fight against and protect her master from. Cassa thought that it could have been only through a stroke of luck that she was somehow able to escape from her eyes and stay here.

With the White Queen’s first magic, half of the demon army was burned down in a sea of black flames and the other half along with the Demon Lord was lost into the sea after the White Queen summoned an ice calamity.

Just the sheer amount of magic power floating around in the surroundings paralyzed her nerves. Cassa felt she could vomit anytime even if she had trained herself to perfection to survive under any harsh condition.

Every time Cassa tried to seek Alice, she couldn’t get her attention. But be surprised every time.

Instead of fearing the White Queen or getting anxious by her presence. Instead, Alice had a face of longing, which Cassa had never seen her master make before.

The always calm and collected princess no longer cared about the situation around her or for her own life. More so, all her attention was focused on the White Queen as if she was deeply worried about her.

But before Cassa could reach a decision to escape, the show was already over.

Apparently, the White Queen who was alleged to be a human, could actually be a demon as well. Cassa did not know what to believe anymore as she saw the White Queen slowly descend on the land.

Even her demonic form was elegant and the most beautiful thing she might have ever witnessed.

But the next second she observed the White Queen back in her normal human form in which she primarily first appeared. Her face so serene that Cassa could have mistaken herself to be in a holy sermon and not on a battlefield.

“Just what is she?” Cassa had never heard something like this before.

The distance between the White Queen and her master, Alice Hart, diminished with each step they took towards one another.

Cassa did not know what was up with the White Queen’s eyes as they fluctuated between red and blue constantly.

‘Master, what are you doing?’ Cassa did not know the reason Alice could have to approach such a dangerous person.

Cassa felt the need to stop her master before she could harm herself in any way. And with no time left, Cassa came out from the shadows running towards them at her top speed.

“Stop right there….” Cassa’s lips moved as she drew out her dagger from her back.

But only seconds later she realised that she could not make a voice and failed to catch her master’s attention.

As she drew closer to the intense magic emanating from the presence of the White Queen, her legs grew numb. Suddenly, a telepathic message surged through her mind, causing a sharp, almost painful sensation.

“You can leave now.”

The words carried little to no emotion as if it was already aware of her presence from start to end. It was just on a whim she was able to watch everything and stay here for so long.

But now that her purpose was fulfilled she was no longer needed.

And so, when the voice stopped, Cassa fell headfirst on soft grassy ground. The moment she quickly lifted up her head, she was surrounded by confused panicked soldiers who found themselves in a similar predicament in the Hart Palace garden.

Once Alicia had confirmed that the entire demon army along with the Demon lord of orcs was eliminated with no survivors. She turned away from the battlefield without taking a second glance.

The things she did here mattered little to her and were of no consequence.

Alicia quickly descended back to the human continent where only a few minutes before the entire human army stood. But was now just an empty piece of land.

But along with the presence of the person she came here to meet she felt another presence that tried to stop her.

‘Right, I left her to protect Athena just in case. You can leave now….’ Alicia thought while teleporting the extra back to where she sent the human army.

Alicia did not need to look any further or search her way around anymore.

The person she had impatiently waited for past these years was right in front of her.

She might have looked a bit different from the Athena she knew back from the Divine Realm.

But from the moment she stepped into this place, Alicia had always known that she had finally found her.

The princess of the Hart Kingdom ⸺Alice Hart is Athena.

Does she know who I am?

Will she recognize me? I have to tell her before it’s too late. I don’t want to…

Alicia with these simple thoughts tried to run towards her.

Quickly trying to dissipate the heavy dense magic around herself Alicia tried to get closer to Athena. The covenant and promise they had once made to each other only seemed to get stronger as if they were finally being pulled towards each other.

⸺And yet, her legs felt way further. Alicia was losing her vision.

Was it because I used up a lot of magic…? But this has never happened to me before.

Am I crying… but I don’t have any tears?

So, why do my eyes burn?

“⸺Athena…” I called her name, fearing that if I hesitated any longer, I might begin to forget her, along with everything that had become so much precious to me until now.

ALICE HART [ATHENA]

Not even for a second I could move my eyes away. I did not need confirmation from someone to tell me that the person in the sky whom they all referred to as the White Queen is my only Sachi.

All I needed to do was just wait. Only a bit more…

In this new life, I had found so many beautiful things that brought me happiness. A loving family of my own and a status I could aspire for to help and learn from others.

But I was always scared, that even for a second if I stopped searching for her, I might not be able to do it again.

So, I did everything in my power to find her. No matter how long it would take. I just had to keep looking without stopping.

I just couldn’t find anything complete without her being at my side sharing the same things I had.

I had no way to know where she was or what she was doing.

And sometimes I could only wonder whether she was eating properly. Was there someone to look after her if she ever got sick?

“Athena…Athena.” And the words came right out of her mouth.

“Yes, it’s me…”

I spontaneously hugged Sachi.

Maybe finding a miracle would have been much easier, but what could I have done because you were the first miracle that had ever happened in my life?

That’s why… Thank you for coming back to me.

I could have told you so many things about yourself. About why you are not hurt anywhere yet still feel this odd pain within yourself. Why do your hair and eyes look so different from when I last met you?

“It's really you Athena…” Sachi again asked me.

“Yes it's me. Sachi.”

“Athena, you are safe. I don’t know what I would have done if something would have happened to you...” Sachi said to me.

“You won’t be going anywhere from now on right?” I asked.

“There won't be any longer an enemy I won't be able to defeat. If you ever get hurt again, I will burn down the entire world. That’s why I will always stay here as long as you want.”

No one seemed to have my answer. And in exchange for everything I only longed for you.

So, if this is how Sachi really felt, I will never let her go. And no, one else will ever take her away from me.

I will never make the same mistake of losing her again.

We will rebuild it all again of what we had lost in this long time.

For some reason Alicia’s calm body started shivering… and I looked at her making a strained expression with her curved lips.

“Hmph! It's not like it t-tickles or anything?!” Alicia said suppressing her voice.

“I can’t even begin to imagine how hard it must have been for you. So, I won’t push you.” I said freeing Sachi from my grip.

“Thank you for remembering me….and.”

“Of course, I can wait for you forever.”

“What!? no….” Alicia tried to clear up the confusion.

But I just smiled and decided to say what was on my mind.

“From now on I will put in my every drop of blood, sweat, and tears to make you the happiest girl alive.”

“⸺Wait! Doesn’t it sound like a….”

Why would Athena say something so embarrassing and naughty at such a time?

Hello there, this is NOEL ELITIA.

The first two months of this new year have passed by so suddenly and yet I know how long it must have felt for you to reach this point where you can see Sachi and Athena reunite once again at the end of this very ninth volume.

Is this the end? Of course not, because I am only just getting started.

To me, it only feels like I have just completed the first chapter of the story I have imagined so far.

It can’t end here because both Sachi and Athena have so much to do.

Was this reunion to your satisfaction?

I always wonder how two people who have not met for a very long time would react after suddenly meeting each other.

Would it only be called a coincidence? Will they recognize each other? Will their attitude towards each other be the same as it once was?

I am sure you are wondering where I am going with this. What do I plan to do next in the story?

But that’s what I am always trying to say this is not just some fiction I want to base it on a template that everyone follows nor make the entire novel revolve just around one.

I believe for my story to truly blossom this is a necessary step. It was not the wait but the journey that really counts for me.

I know you must have also received a shocker while going through Sachi’s and Ken’s past. And a small peek through Sachi’s parent’s background and life.

Believe it or not, I was always so anxious writing that part. Wondering was it the right step in the novel. I am still not confident, and I don’t think I need to be.

I will just leave it to the characters to decide and how they will reunite again.

Will it be soon, or will they make us wait for long again?

Or, will it be something you might find more interesting than just waiting for it to happen?

I’m not sure if this volume betrayed your expectations or fulfilled them, but I’ll be glad so long as you derived some amount of enjoyment from it. In my mind, this work is meant to be a simple, fun read with a slant toward comedy and a romantic approach toward magical fights.

I know I have ended the volume at a point you might have been waiting to see right after the end of volume 1. Maybe you have finally found your answer.

But is that enough? Honestly, I want to know more.

That’s why I will keep writing.

VOLUME 10 : SYNOPSIS

Alicia returns with Athena to the Hart Kingdom and finds herself in an odd dilemma being offered some really odd choices by Athena.

Athena helps Alicia to settle down in her land and seeing her worsening condition, advises Alicia to hire her own knightage. Leading them to the country of Knights where the selection process of Knights for various countries is going on right about now.

And then there’s also a promise to keep and another war to slaughter.

As I’m sure those of you can already tell that I am a huge fan of isekai genre. Crazy enough that after writing the ninth volume I am aiming for the tenth now. Feels almost unbelievable thinking back to when we started on this journey!

Once again, I’d like to thank my readers for letting me enjoy myself all the way through.

May we meet again in the next volume of When I Got Reincarnated As A Spider With My Goddess.
